Dress Code for Dance & Yoga Dress Code for Dance & Yoga *All Student’s hair should be tied back and out of the face for all movement classes. Workshops Moving with Parent & Tot Bring yourself and your child in something you can easily move in. We will be dancing, rolling and sliding and jumping on and off the floor. Dancers will dance barefoot. Beginning/Intermediate Ballet Dancers may wear leotards and convertible tights or leggings. Hair should be up and out of the face. A bun would be ideal. Ballet shoes are optional. Intro to Tap Dancers should wear comfortable and flexible clothes to move in. Tap shoes are required. Hair should be up and out of the face. Beginning Hip Hop Breakdancing 101 Hair should be up and out of the face. Dancers should wear breathable workout clothes, like leggings, warm-up pants and tank tops or t-shirts. Pants that cover the knee are recommended. Dancers may also wear sneakers that are clean on the bottom (not worn on the street) or a dance sneaker for support. Classes for Ages 3-5 Hip Hoppers Shake, Rattle & Roll Hair should be up and out of the face. Dancers should wear comfortable clothes to move in like leggings, cotton pants, t-shirts or tank tops. No slippers, zippers or buttons. Please have your child ready to move barefooted (NO FOOTED TIGHTS). Please keep accessories such as crowns, wands, wings, stuffed animals and ballet slippers at home. Dance Play Yoga & Dance Play Hair should be up and out of the face. Dancers may wear leotards, skirts, and/or footless tights, leggings or warmup pants. No slippers, zippers or buttons. Please have your child ready to move barefooted (NO FOOTED TIGHTS). Please keep accessories such as crowns, wands, wings, stuffed animals and ballet slippers at home. Classes for Ages 5-14 Beginning Ballet & Beginning Modern Ladies: Hair should be up and out of the face. Dancers may wear leotards (any color), convertible tights (pink or white), skirts above the knee and ballet shoes (any color). Ballet shoes are optional, and dancers may dance barefoot. Gents: Dancers may wear white t-shirts, black leggings or shorts and ballet shoes (black). Dancers should wear a fitted tank top or leotard and may wear dance, yoga, warm-up pants or leggings for the bottom. NO BAGGY T-SHIRTS OR SHORTS. Pants should come below the knee and the ankles should be visible. Dancers will dance barefoot. Beginning/Intermediate Ballet Intermediate Ballet Ladies: Dancers may wear leotards (any color), convertible tights (pink or white) and ballet shoes (pink). Hair should be pulled back into a bun. Gents: Dancers may wear white t-shirts, black leggings or shorts and ballet shoes (black). Creative Dance & Hip Hop Hair should be up and out of the face. Leotards and fitted tank tops are recommended. Dancers may wear footless tights, leggings or warmup pants that are above or at the ankle. Dancers will dance barefoot. Hip Hop Kids Hip Hop Tweens Hair should be up and out of the face. Dancers should wear a fitted top or leotard and may wear dance, yoga, warm-up pants or leggings. Pants should either be above the ankle or rolled above the ankle. Dancers will dance barefoot. Pre-Ballet and Creative Dance Hair should be up and out of the face. Dancers may wear footless tights, leggings, leotards or fitted tops. Ballet shoes are optional. Socks can be worn with ballet shoes, so they can be removed easily for creative dance. Dancers will dance barefoot for the creative dance portion of class. *Ballet shoes must have leather soles instead of slippery dress-up slippers. Classes for Ages 15 - Adult Intermediate Modern Technique Intermediate Teen Modern Technique Intermediate/Advanced Modern Technique Advanced Modern Technique Hair should be up and out of the face. Dancers should wear a fitted tank top or leotard and may wear dance, yoga, warm-up pants or leggings for the bottom. NO BAGGY T-SHIRTS OR SHORTS. Hair is to be pulled back and away from the face for all classes. For all ballet classes, dancers should have hair affixed in a secure bun for their time in the studio.     Dress Code Dancewear selections must present a clean and professional appearance allowing the instructor to clearly see the dancer’s body. This includes refraining from wearing dance attire with large graphics and logos. Bare legs, bare midriffs, loose or sloppy warm-up pants, cut-off tights, and plastic sweat pants are not permitted in classes. Personal grooming is also important. Hair must be securely fastened off face and neck in order not to interfere with the execution of turns and jumps. Students must also refrain from wearing heavy or sharp hair ornaments and jewelry. There are several days during the year when the Instructors may allow less rigid dress, e.g., Halloween, Valentine’s Day, St. Patrick’s Day, etc. The Instructor will announce these days in advance. Ballet Studio Classes – Technique and Pointe Daily Class Dress code • Women: Any solid single-color leotards and pink tights. Leg warmers may be worn in cases of injury and with instructor approval. Leg warmers must be knit, tight fitting, and a light pastel color in order to be less visually distracting– pink is recommended. For Pointe classes, the same dress code applies.     We expect the dress code to be followed by every student. Please read this information carefully to avoid confusion and inconsistencies. Students must be properly dressed to attend class, teachers have the right to refuse a student participation, if dress code is not followed. A solid color leotard, tights, and appropriate footwear must be worn. New students are given four weeks to purchase this attire. Jewelry is not permitted in any class. Hair must be worn in a bun for all ballet classes and pulled back and tightly secured for all other classes. Please do not wear dance shoes as street shoes. Students must wear cover-ups over their dance clothes when entering and leaving the studio. Select dance wear is available for purchase conveniently located in the studio.
