  • Modelling Obsidian Trade Routes During Late Neolithic in the South-East Banat Region of Vr[Ac Using Gis*
MIROSLAV MARI] Institute for Balkan Studies, Serbian Academy of Science and Arts, Belgrade MODELLING OBSIDIAN TRADE ROUTES DURING LATE NEOLITHIC IN THE SOUTH-EAST BANAT REGION OF VR[AC USING GIS* UDK: 903.3"634"(497.11) ; 903.03"634"(497.11) e-mail: [email protected] 903"63":528.856(497.11) Received: February 10, 2015 DOI: 10.2298/STA1565037M Accepted: May 29, 2015 Original research article Abstract. – The aim of this paper is to reconstruct the possible trajectory of the movement of the obsidian that was brought to the region of present day Vr{ac from Carpathian 1 and Carpathian 2 sources, located between Ko{ice and Mi{kolc (the present day border area between Hungary and Slovakia). This objective has been fulfilled using computer aided modelling performed within the constraints of geographic information system software based on the physical characteristics of the terrain and the reconstruction of paleoenvironmental and paleoclimatic conditions in the period of the late Neolithic. The second largest obsidian collection in the territory of Vin~a culture originates from the site of Potporanj, south of Vr{ac. The abundance of finds indicates the importance this region had in the distribution of this resource during late Neolithic. In the paper the modelling of two different possibilities of land based distribution from the flow of the river Tisza are shown; the first from Perlez/Opovo (western route) and the other from Mureº (northern route), i.e. present day Arad and Timiºoara. The modelled results indicate the existence of a settlement patterning close to the modelled pathways in the period of Vin~a culture.

Utvrœivanje prisustva i raãirenosti (prevalence) BHV-1 infekcije vrãeno je ispitivanjem prisustva specifiånih antitela protiv BHV-1 virusa u uzorcima krvnih seruma pojedinaåno dræanih goveda ili goveda iz malih zapata (do 20 grla) prikupljenih tokom sprovoœenja Programa mera zdravstvene zaãtite goveda 2005. i 2006. godine. Abstract Detailed distribution pattern of colubrid snakes in Serbia is still inadequately described, despite the long historical study. In this paper, we provide accurate distribution of seven species, with previously published and newly accumulated faunistic records compiled. Comparative analysis of faunas among all Balkan countries showed that Serbian colubrid fauna is among the most distinct (together with faunas of Slovenia and Romania), due to small number of species. Zoogeographic analysis showed high chorotype diversity of Serbian colubrids: seven species belong to six chorotypes. South-eastern Serbia (Pčinja River valley) is characterized by the presence of all colubrid species inhabiting our country, and deserves the highest conservation status at the national level.

  • 27 585263 First-Progres-Report-Feb
2 Executive Summary The first year of the “Let’s Build a Home Together” project was burdened with a number of obstacles, most of which were outside the UNOPS’ control. Still, there were positive aspects in implementation that include building of trust among the Project beneficiaries, full participation of 170 identified families in all consultations about durable housing solutions, and high involvement of women in the decision making process. The good communication with the focal points appointed by the City of Belgrade meant there was a high turnout at all events involving the beneficiary community. Another positive move was obtaining the location permit for the construction of social housing flats in Orlovsko naselje, albeit with a four-month delay. However, only one other location – in Jabučki Rit - out of six identified in the City of Belgrade Action Plan for the Resettlement of the Residents of Makiš, Resnik, Jabučki Rit and Kijevo Container Settlements (RAP), was assessed as adequate, though conditionally, because of its remoteness and isolation. In these two locations, 27 units can be constructed compared to 121 planned by the RAP. This reconfirmed the need for additional sites and the City of Belgrade has been advised formally and informally that it must urgently propose sufficient number of new locations, with adequate capacity to accept all beneficiaries interested in the social housing. It is of utmost importance that any new location has resolved urban-planning status and ownership, and that the location permit for social housing construction can be issued immediately. Furthermore, the housing design proposed within the RAP - prefabricated wooden multi- storey blocks - is no longer valid having been superseded by the new legislation.
