Kljuåne reåi: BHV-1, seroprevalenca, mali zapati, Juænobaåki okrug, Sremski okrug Prevalence of herpesvirus 1 in small herds in Southern Baåka and Srem district Sava Laziñ1, Tamaã Petroviñ1, Diana Lupuloviñ1, Dejan Bugarski1, Ivan Puãiñ1, Vladimir Polaåek2, Marko Maljkoviñ1 1Scientific Veterinary Institute „Novi Sad”, Novi Sad, Rumenaåki put 20 2Specialised Institute for Veterinary Medicine, Kraljevo Abstract Bovine herpesvirus type 1 infection (IBR/IPV virus) presents the most spread in- fection in nowadays cattle breeding. Bovine herpesvirus-1 (BHV-1) may be an agent of serious health disorders causing great economic losses. Since the largest number of cattle in Southern Baåka and Srem district are raised in small herds (what may con- siderably influence effective implementation of program for control and eradication of BHV-1 infection) it was necessary to investigate the prevalence of BHV-1 infection in the cattle population in this area, what was the aim of this work. Detection and estimation of the presence and prevalence of BHV-1 was done by detection of specific antibodies against BHV-1 in sera samples of cattle raised individ- ually or in small herds (up to 20 animals) collected during the State Program of Dis- ease Control in 2005 and 2006. The sampling was randomly carried out taking care that the samples from all the settlements and municipalities in Southern Baåka and Srem were present. A total of 16,610 samples was collected. Animals seropositive for BHV-1 were detected in all municipalities, but not in all settlements. The highest percent of seropositive animals was found in Beoåin munici- pality (27.27%), Titel municipality (27.16%), Æabalj (22.45%) and Stara Pazova mu- nicipality (22.15%). The lowest prevalence was in Baåki Petrovac (8.16%) and Temerin municipalities (9.68%). In other municipalities the prevalence ranged be- 19 Arhiv veterinarske medicine, vol. 1, br. 1, 18-31, 2008. Laziñ S. i dr.: Raãirenost infekcije herpesvirusom… tween 10% and 20%. From the obtained results it can be concluded that BHV-1 infec- tion was not present in 10 settlements in Southern Baåka and 14 settlements in Srem district. In other settlements (151) the percentage of seropositive animals ranged from 1 to 50%. However, if we analyze the obtained results in the area, it may be con- cluded that the prevalence is almost the same: in Srem district there were 18.42% and in Southern Baåka 18.79% seropositive animals. Low prevalence was detected in the majority of settlements. The data that in 24 settlements in both districts there were no seropositive animals His an encouraging information. This points on a possibility of easier and faster implementation of con- trol measures and eradication of BHV-1 infection. The results obtained in serology examination provide us an insight in immunology status of small herds in Southern Baåka and Srem districts, what is a starting point in designing and implementing nec- essary measures with the aim to prevent cases of this disease, as well as its spreading and eradication. Key words: BHV-1, seroprevalence, small herds, Southern Baåka district, Srem dis- trict UVOD Infekcija goveœim herpesvirusom tipa-1 (IBR/IPV virus) predstavlja jednu od najraãirenijih infekcija danaãnjeg govedarstva. 20 Arhiv veterinarske medicine, vol. 1, br. 1, 18-31, 2008. Laziñ S. i dr.: Raãirenost infekcije herpesvirusom… One of the goals of the project was to detect and reconstruct the Roman viability between the Roman cities of Aquileia (Aquileia, Italy) and Singidunum (Belgrade, Serbia), using different sources and methods, one of which is satellite remote sensing. The research project analyzed and combined several data, including images produced by the Sentinel-2 mission, funded by the European Commission Earth Observation Programme Copernicus, in which satellites were launched between 2015 and 2017. These images are freely available for scientific and commercial purposes, and constitute a constantly updated gallery of the whole planet, with a revisit time of five days at the Equator. The technical specifications of the satellites’ sensors are particularly suitable for archaeological mapping purposes, and their capacities in this field still need to be fully explored. The project provided a useful testbed for the use of Sentinel-2 images in the archaeological field. The study compares traditional Vegetation Indices with experimental trials on Sentinel images applied to the Srem District in Serbia.

  • The Role of Irrigation in Development of Agriculture in Srem District1
THE ROLE OF IRRIGATION IN DEVELOPMENT OF AGRICULTURE IN SREM DISTRICT Review Article Economics of Agriculture 4/2014 UDC: 631.67:631(497.113) THE ROLE OF IRRIGATION IN DEVELOPMENT OF AGRICULTURE IN SREM DISTRICT1 Branko Mihailović2, Drago Cvijanović3, Ivan Milojević4, Milorad Filipović5 Abstract Applying irrigation get high production results and economics of investments in irrigation systems points out that this measure in agricultural production should be given a priority. By irrigation can stabilize, i.e. increase food production and encourage the development of livestock breeding, processing and other branches of economy in the region of Vojvodina and Srem area. Accordingly, the basic goals of the research are: 1) evaluation of factors of agricultural development with the analysis of impact to the planned construction and exploitation of the irrigation system, 2) market aspects of establishing the irrigation system with water of Srem region, 3) evaluation of market efficiency of agricultural production and 4) defining approach for determination of a new sowing structure under irrigation. Research has shown that irrigation increases the agricultural production efficiency, there makes impact to sowing structure change, and the market surpluses on the international market can be sold, by using the existing international agreements, signed by the Republic of Serbia. However, besides a great potential in the sector of agricultural production, as the result of favourable climatic conditions, natural land characteristics and available water resources, signed agreements on free trade – the potentials in agro-food sector have not been sufficiently used. Kontopoulos, External Reader, Department of Sociology © by Angela Valeria Ilić 2012 All Rights Reserved ii ABSTRACT This dissertation examines a series of interchurch consultations that took place between 1999 and 2009 with the participation of the Evangelical Church in Germany, the Roman Catholic German Bishops’ Conference and the Serbian Orthodox Church. The Protestant-Catholic-Orthodox ecumenical encounters began in the immediate aftermath of the Kosovo crisis, and aimed to support Serbia’s democratization and European integration. At a total of nine meetings, delegates from the participating churches, together with politicians, representatives of non-governmental organizations, and scholars from various fields, discussed the role of churches and religion in the two countries. The meetings provided a forum for exchanging knowledge and addressing the challenges confronting the churches and their social organizations. Through lectures, discussions, and meetings in working groups, the consultations focused on theological, legal, political, and social topics, such as church and state relations in Serbia, the role of churches in secularized society, Serbia’s relationship to the rest of Europe, reconciliation, and the healing of memories. Focusing on the content and the outcomes of the consultations, the author places them into the broader ecumenical, social and political context in which they took place.

  • Tourism Potential of Serbian Protected Areas Dear Reader
ATLAS OF TOURISM POTENTIAL OF SERBIAN PROTECTED AREAS Dear reader, Serbia’s protected areas, the jewels of the country, contain nu- merous wonders of nature. A variety of rare, endangered animal and plant species can be observed in their natural habitat. Desi- gnating protected areas allows the provision of safe harbours for these species and ecosystems, which in many cases are unique. And promoting nature-respecting tourism and recreation in the- se areas not only allows visitors to explore these wonders, but also contributes to the livelihood of the people and communities who have lived in and shaped those landscapes over centuries. It is UNDP’s ambition, together with the authorities and people of Serbia, to support tourism and recreation in protected areas, so that you can explore their treasures. Hiking, bird watching, sport fishing, camping, but also adventurous activities, such as mountain biking, canyoning, paragliding or rafting, offer multiple opportunities for spending high quality time outdoors. Tourism infrastructure – like visitor centres, educational signalization, ob- servation towers and walking trails – are currently being built in all the protected areas to facilitate and guide visitors in exploring the nature, while enhancing the understanding and willingness to protect their unique character and inherent, rare species. I hope this “Atlas of Tourism Potential of Serbian Protected Are- as” will inspire you, guide you to remote corners of Serbia, and wake your curiosity to explore some of the most beautiful sides of this country. I would like to use the opportunity express my gratitude to the protected area managers for their valuable con- tribution in preparing it.
