Royal Manitoba Theatre Centre Research Guide for Canadian, Regional, Manitoban and Indigenous Plays All plays listed in this research guide are by Canadian playwrights, or other contributors such as translators and composers (meaning they were born in Canada or have been a long-time resident). This research guide also notes if the playwright is Manitoban or Indigenous, and if the play contains regional or Indigenous content. Please refer to the legend below. Manitoban: the playwright or creator was born in Manitoba or has been a resident of Manitoba. Indigenous: the playwright is Indigenous. Regional Content: the play takes place on the prairies (Manitoba, Saskatchewan or Alberta) or the play’s storyline or themes focus on prairie people and their experiences. Indigenous Content: the play has characters who are Indigenous or focuses on Indigenous mythologies. This research guide includes all of the information needed to make an archival request at the Archives of Manitoba – the item description, date of the item and the location code. See the example below. The information in this research guide is accurate as of March 22, 2018. Please refer to the Archives of Manitoba’s Keystone Database for the most current list of files. Records are stored onsite in the vaults of the Archives of Manitoba (200 Vaughan Street, Winnipeg) or offsite in their storage facility. The location of each file is provided in the research guide. Request forms are available at the Archives of Manitoba. All records must be viewed in the reading room at the Vaughan Street location. Request forms for records stored offsite can be submitted online. For more information, please visit the Archives of Manitoba website. Restrictions: Photographs can be viewed but cannot be copied without the permission of the theatre. Records for productions after 1998 are located at the Royal MTC building (174 Market Avenue, Winnipeg). Researchers who require access should contact [email protected]. This research guide is divided into two sections: the first includes plays with records located at the Archives of Manitoba; the second section lists plays for which records have not yet been transferred to the Archives of Manitoba (1999-2000 to 2017-2018 season). Note: Some files may contain records for more than one production. The dates listed reflect all of the productions in the file. Where multiple creators are listed, the creators who are not Canadian are noted with an asterisk. Royal MTC – Research Guide for Canadian, Regional, Manitoban and Indigenous Plays 2 I.
