This initiative is one-of-a-kind in Quebec! Over 300 people per day are expected to attend different interactive activities that will allow them to exchange views with other health care professionals on this year’s theme of Diagnosis, treatment and prevention in a world of innovation. Researchers, students, industrial partners, health care professionals, decision makers, managers and patients will be at the centre of an extensive and diversified program bringing together the scientific and medical community and the public. On the program: scientific conferences, “themed” workshops, presentations of industry solutions, student posters, booths, satellite symposiums, B2B meetings, public talks, and more. CHUM Provides treatment and care to adult patients. Thanks to its innovations and unparalleled areas of expertise, the Centre Hospitalier de l'Université de Montréal (CHUM) is able to improve the health of an aging adult population. It fulfils its mission to patients and their families in partnership with the Réseau de la santé and the Université de Montréal. As an academic institution, the CHUM is a place of knowledge and knowledge transfer, innovation, cutting edge technologies and practices, but it is also people-centred. With know-how applied every day in thousands of interactions, quality always remains at the forefront of the CHUM's concerns. Its top priorities: a smile, an attentive and warm presence, and courteous behaviour. The Centre Hospitalier de l'Université de Montréal and its research centre (CRCHUM) are located in the heart of the future Quartier de l’innovation en Santé (QIS). And when a climate disaster occurs, they are more vulnerable because they have been less prepared: 80% of the victims of the cyclone Sidr in Bangladesh, and 61% of the victims of Nargis in Myanmar were women and girls. In disaster areas, healthcare and access to contraception are often wiped out, further hindering their capacity to space out births, a prerequisite for their empowerment. Recognising women as actors in addressing climate change Despite these obstacles and the discriminations they suffer, women are striving to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and adapt to climate change impacts. They are innovating on all continents by applying conservation agriculture (which reduces the needs for water and fertilisers and captures carbon), by installing adapted irrigation and drinking water reservoirs, and by creating complete waste recycling lines... And yet their actions, often undertaken locally, are undervalued and too rarely funded.
