Brentwood Academics OUR VALUES Our senior students graduate with a British Columbia Grade 12 Secondary School Diploma, and thus must meet specific graduation requirements in grades 10, 11 and 12, including Grit and Joy the writing of a province-wide exam in English 12. To challenge our students beyond the extent of this set of provincial requirements, we deliver the vast majority of our classes at an honors level. In addition, Brentwood is proud to offer a wide variety of Advanced Placement courses that allow Grade 11 (to a very limited degree) and 12 students to challenge their academic limits. Indeed, our senior students take advantage of the opportunities offered by these challenging courses, consistently posting very strong results on their AP exams. Only students bound for U.S. colleges elect to write the SAT at Brentwood, and test preparation is completed independently. • Among the students who applied to schools in the U.S. and graduated in 2016, their mean scores in the sections of the SAT were: Critical Reading = 594, Mathematics = 617, Writing = 570. UNIVERSITY PLACEMENT • 145 students graduated in the Class of 2017: 95% are currently attending 4-year institutions, 2% are attending 2-year institutions, and 3% have taken a GAP year before commencing post-secondary studies; they are currently attending 58 universities in 6 Canadian provinces, 13 U.S. states, and in 7 different nations. • Earning an overall admit rate of 71%, they gained 560 acceptances from 138 different institutions in 7 different nations. • 80% were admitted to their first choice of university, and 58% were awarded merit scholarships by at least one university.
