is a 2005 “jukebox” musical comedy built around a number of songs made famous by . It's NOT a biographical revue. The story is based on ’s 1602 play .

It takes place in 1955, somewhere in middle America, where one girl's dream and a surprise visit from a mysterious leather-jacketed, guitar-playing stranger help a small town to discover the of romance and the power of rock & roll.

Among the 24 songs featured in the score are classics like "," "Love Me Tender," "Don't Be Cruel," "Can't Help Falling in Love," and of course the title tune, “All Shook Up”.

The Ensemble will play numerous singing/dancing roles in the show. The inmates, barflies, statues, devilettes, angels, townspeople, guys, gals, etc. will all be cast from the ensemble, as well as a few small speaking roles. The ensemble or part of the ensemble perform in 15 of the musical numbers and provide a backdrop for a majority of the scenes.

We will be looking to cast a small ensemble of big voices and above average dancers.

Description of Characters

Female Roles LEADS

Natalie is a young girl who dreams of falling in love with a special guy. She lives with her father, Jim, and helps him run his gas station. She’s an excellent mechanic and more at home in coveralls than a dress.

Miss Sandra is the beautiful curator of the town museum and becomes the love interest that Natalie wishes to have for her own. Beautiful and intelligent, she wants substance in a guy.

Lorraine is the daughter of Sylvia, who runs the local honky tonk/ nightstop and bar. She is also looking for youthful love.

Sylvia is the owner of the local nightstop and bar where folks gather to have a good time with good music be it rock or blues. She is very aware that she and her daughter are from “the wrong side of the tracks”. She’s a bit similar to ’s Motormouth Maybelle.

Mayor Matilda Hyde is very conservative and wants to keep the devil out of her town. Her son, Dean, is being shipped off to a military school because he’s become too cozy with Lorraine.

MALE LEADS

Chad is a loner and a young rebel in the , , Elvis Presley mold. He drove his motorcycle into a small but conservative town where he finds several opportunities for love.

Dennis is a young man who is in love with Natalie, but who Natalie is only interested in as a friend. Dennis would do anything for Natalie, but eventually finds love in Miss Sandra.

Dean is the son of the conservative mayor, Matlida, who will send him off to military school. He becomes interested in and the love interest of Lorraine.

Jim is Natalie’s father and he, too, is looking for love. He misses his deceased wife, but eventually finds love in the person of Miss Sylvia.

Sheriff Earl has been enforcing the consistently conservative laws of the town under the leadership of Ms. Matilda. They eventually find one another.
