  • Cobbling Together the Dream Indian Eleven
COBBLING TOGETHER THE DREAM INDIAN ELEVEN Whenever the five selectors, often dubbed as the five wise men with the onerous responsibility of cobbling together the best players comprising India’s test cricket team, sit together to pick the team they feel the heat of the country’s collective gaze resting on them. Choosing India’s cricket team is one of the most difficult tasks as the final squad is subjected to intense scrutiny by anybody and everybody. Generally the point veers round to questions such as why batsman A was not picked or bowler B was dropped from the team. That also makes it a very pleasurable hobby for followers of the game who have their own views as to who should make the final 15 or 16 when the team is preparing to leave our shores on an away visit or gearing up to face an opposition on a tour of our country. Arm chair critics apart, sports writers find it an enjoyable professional duty when they sit down to select their own team as newspapers speculate on the composition of the squad pointing out why somebody should be in the team at the expense of another. The reports generally appear on the sports pages on the morning of the team selection. This has been a hobby with this writer for over four decades now and once the team is announced, you are either vindicated or amused. And when the player, who was not in your frame goes on to play a stellar role for the country, you inwardly congratulate the selectors for their foresight and knowledge.

  • Nike Launched the 'Bleed Blue' Initiative Six Months Ago, in a Show of Solidarity Towards the Game of Cricket. Now, the Campaign
Nike launched the 'Bleed Blue' initiative six months ago, in a show of solidarity towards the game of cricket. Now, the campaign has reached culmination with the 'Yards' ad, and after the World Cup win, the 'United by Blue' commercial. A look at what Nike is upto. Nike and cricket go back to almost five years when the brand started seriously focussing on Team India and the game. The 'Traffic Jam' film was among its first advertising attempts on that theme. "Some brands have nothing to do with the sport, and use it only as a great advertising platform. Cricket is a long-term holistic property for us, and the fit is rather natural, with Nike being a sports brand as well," says Sanjay Gangopadhyay, marketing director, Nike India. Six months ago, on September 3, 2010, the 'Just do it' brand kickstarted it's 'Bleed Blue' campaign, which reached its logical conclusion with the end of the ICC Cricket World Cup on April 2, 2011. Bleed Blue stems from the truth that cricket is not just a sport, but more of a religion in India. There is tremendous passion involved in the game, and the campaign hopes to give an expression to that passion. 'Blood, sweat and blue' is the idea that came to JWT India, Nike's agency. While 'blood' and 'sweat' represent the hard work, grit and unwavering determination of the players, 'Blue' is an obvious take on the blue jerseys that Team India sports, and that these jerseys are an aspiration for every gully cricketer in India -- in other words, everyone aspires to be a Sachin Tendulkar or a Virender Sehwag.

  • Responses to 100 Best Acts Post-2009-10-11 (For Reference)
Bobbytalkscinema.Com Responses/ Comments on “100 Best Performances of Hindi Cinema” in the year 2009-10-11. submitted on 13 October 2009 bollywooddeewana bollywooddeewana.blogspot.com/ I can't help but feel you left out some important people, how about Manoj Kumar in Upkar or Shaheed (i haven't seen that) but he always made strong nationalistic movies rather than Sunny in Deol in Damini Meenakshi Sheshadri's performance in that film was great too, such a pity she didn't even earn a filmfare nomination for her performance, its said to be the reason on why she quit acting Also you left out Shammi Kappor (Junglee, Teesri MANZIL ETC), shammi oozed total energy and is one of my favourite actors from 60's bollywood Rati Agnihotri in Ek duuje ke Liye Mala Sinha in Aankhen Suchitra Sen in Aandhi Sanjeev Kumar in Aandhi Ashok Kumar in Mahal Mumtaz in Khilona Reena Roy in Nagin/aasha Sharmila in Aradhana Rajendra Kuamr in Kanoon Time wouldn't permit me to list all the other memorable ones, which is why i can never make a list like this bobbysing submitted on 13 October 2009 Hi, As I mentioned in my post, you are right that I may have missed out many important acts. And yes, I admit that out of the many names mentioned, some of them surely deserve a place among the best. So I have made some changes in the list as per your valuable suggestion. Manoj Kumar in Shaheed (Now Inlcuded in the Main 100) Meenakshi Sheshadri in Damini (Now Included in the Main 100) Shammi Kapoor in Teesri Manzil (Now Included in the Main 100) Sanjeev Kumar in Aandhi (Now Included in Worth Mentioning Performances) Sharmila Togore in Aradhana (Now Included in Worth Mentioning Performances) Sunny Deol in Damini (Shifted to More Worth Mentioning Performances) Mehmood in Pyar Kiye Ja (Shifted to More Worth Mentioning Performances) Nagarjun in Shiva (Shifted to More Worth Mentioning Performances) I hope you will approve the changes made as per your suggestions.

IJOSTHE ISSN: 2349-0772 | Volume 5 Issue 6 December 2018 |www.ijosthe.com Rajeev Tiwari Barkatullah University Bhopal, India [email protected] A Flamboyant Fighter – Yuvraj Singh Yuvraj Singh, a famous name in the world of cricket. He is such a kind of person and a sportsman who does not require introduction. Cricket fans see him as a stylish player who hits the ball with brutality, but there is a soft-hearted, gentle person somewhere deep inside. One of his childhood neighboring friend was my colleague at that time. After 20 years down the line he is my closest friend. From him only, I come to know about Yuvaj and his life. According to him, Yuvi is a great friend and a nice human being. Great friend, because he is the one who takes initiative to collect all the yesteryear friends and meet at one place and nostalgic time together. Nice human being, because he participates in many charitable events charging no money. He also runs a charity foundation, which provides aid and economic support who are fighting life-threatening diseases, mainly cancer. We, as spectators, are just enthralled with his success and mesmerized with the style he is leading his life. I am sure most of the fans of the sport, cricket, are unaware of those facts he has gone through his life. Though he was born with a silver spoon in his mouth, but then he still had to break the chicken peas with his nose to taste the success he is enjoying. EARLY YEARS His father also was cricket player but he could not get the success he longed for.
