ELECTRIC

The Spongebob score includes a wide variety of musical styles, and asks guitar players for both rhythm work (chording, picking) and lead solos. The music includes pop/rock styles, standard Broadway styles, country, , and ukulele (hey, it’s Spongebob!).

Bring along an electric guitar with cable and/or an acoustic and any effects that you would like. We’ll supply the amp and will have a uke and acoustic for you to use, if you need them (experience playing the uke is not necessary for you to audition).

For the audition, please prepare three or four short (1-2 minute) selections to demonstrate your technical and musical skills. 1) The first selection you’ll be asked to play is the music at the bottom of this page. Learn it as well as you can and be prepared to play it at the audition. 2) You will choose your other selections: two or three contrasting pieces or styles that you already know and are familiar with. When choosing these additional pieces to perform, be sure to include some rhythm playing and some solos. It is suggested you play from categories like:

• Pop/Rock/Country • /Swing/ • Latin/Bossa/Salsa • Jazz or Pop ballad

After you play your prepared selections, the directors will also ask you to sightread a couple short passages directly from the Spongebob guitar part.

If you have any questions about the guitar audition or about the Spongebob pit , please feel free to contact Dr. Rosewall at (920) 403-3272. Feel free to leave a voice message, including your name and phone number, and you will receive a return phone call.
