The shoulder season (May 18 to June 30 and September 8 to October 12, 2015) is your opportunity to enjoy, at a low price, an inspiring setting as you stand on our history-laden grounds. Enhance your visit with special programs and guided tours. Several buildings with exhibits are open for you to explore.

The peak season (July 1 to September 7, 2015) brings a different kind of magic as costumed animators add life to the streets. Louisbourg’s inhabitants can be found working the forge, tending the gardens and running the kitchens. Walking Trails (see map) The Ruins Walk – 2.3-kilometre (1.43-mile) trail through the remains of the original 18th-century town Simon’s Point Trail – 804-metre (0.5-mile) walk to the mouth of Freshwater Brook and the ocean, travelling through the area once used by attackers in both sieges Old Town Trail – 2.25-kilometre (1.4-mile) walk along the shore with the Fortress in view and the story of Old Town, from 300 years ago to present day, waiting to be discovered Royal Battery Trail – 678-metre (0.42-mile) looped walk that skirts the outline of a major French defence work and offers a spectacular view Mi’kmaw Trail – 351-metre (0.22-mile) wooded walk, located across from the Parks Canada Visitor Centre Wolfe’s Redoubt Trail – 178-metre (0.11-mile) accessible trail that leads to an earthen-work redoubt built under the command of General James Wolfe during the second siege Lighthouse Trail – 2.05-kilometre (1.28-mile) trail along the coastline with unsurpassed vistas and interpretive panels 22 2
