Rescuers and rafters reunited at Camp Lima last week when migrants invited the crew of USS VICKSBURG(CG-69) to par- ticipate in a ceremony held in their honor. The tribute for the Sailors featured a formal presentation of a picture of the VICKSBURG painted by migrant Raoul Castillo, as well as several hymns of thanks sung by a migrant choir. The gathering was the first time either group had seen each other since last August, when the VICKSBURG either rescued or transported more than 700 migrants to safehaven, according to Capt. T.J. Wilson, commander of the VICKSBURG. "The ship was on a routine patrol in the Caribbean when we were suddenly diverted up to the straits of Florida," said Wil- son. Osmany Munoz Tamayo from Village Delta works to complete a memorial for Spec. Ann Terrell. Three months ago, Terrell, a truck driver from Fort Hood, Texas, was killed in a truck accident at the base of McCalla Hill, where the me- morial is being con- structed. Tamayo, who made friends with Terrell when she delivered sup- plies to the villages, hopes to have the memo- rial completed by July 4.
