Congratulations to all the premiership winning teams on achieving the ultimate goal in team sport and our district award winners for your outstanding individual performances. With great pleasure, we reward and acknowledge your successes here in our District Presentation & Yearbook. This season the association achieved slight growth in player numbers, with 95 registered teams from Under 8 through to Under 16, across 9 junior clubs, amounting to approximately 900 junior cricketers turning out each Saturday morning to play our great game. An exciting prospect is that our greatest increases were in our youngest age groups. Our challenge will be to ensure that these increases are maintained and flow into future age group competitions. Each junior club within our association must work collaboratively and think creatively, together, to identify opportunities for future growth, increased involvement and greater enjoyment for our young people so they continue to participate in our game and promote it to others. Well done to a number of clubs this season for their innovative approaches towards registrations and encouraging new players. Many clubs have also run the Cricket Australia Milo in2Cricket and T20 Blast programs, with the aim of attracting new and developing young cricketers. With Cricket NSW support, this season saw the birth of the Thunder Girls Cricket League here in the Penrith region. This female cricket pathway program attracted between 30-40 girls each Saturday afternoon, with many first timers learning great skills and game strategy during the modified matches played. An enormous thank you to David Williams, our Girls Development Coordinator, for driving this initiative and coordinating the games. Our Thunder League feeds into the pathway of the WBBL! The season included 624 matches being played, 90,432 runs scored, and 6417 wickets taken. These matches, their grounds, the results have been well administered and managed by our Competition Secretary, Brendan Bayliss, many thanks for your work. Likewise, our competition only exists because of the many volunteers that grace our clubs. To the Presidents, Secretaries and other club officials, the coaches, managers, parents and supporters within each junior club, we say thank you for all that you do and all that you bring to our game. Thank you to every volunteer who forms part of the PJCA. Your commitment and input is greatly valued and important to our district. It was with immense pleasure that we could acknowledge the efforts of a long serving PJCA volunteer with Life Membership during the season. Congratulations Narelle Smith, well deserved recognition for your service. The PJCA once again finds itself in a very sound financial position. Please support our association sponsors when you can. Clubs are strongly encouraged to continue their involvement at association meetings and in formal roles on the committee. The association will only develop with club input and support. Thank you to our affiliates, the Nepean District Cricket Association and Penrith Cricket Club for your support of our competitions and initiatives. We value and look forward to continued partnerships to develop cricket in the region. Congratulations to all clubs, teams and players who experienced success this season. The final series matches were very competitive and just about every grand final featured a great contest and a close finish. The PJCA committee were excited and honoured to be able to present the premiership shield to each winning team on grand final day and were most impressed with the high standard of enthusiasm and sportsmanship on display. We hope this initiative continues in the years to come. 2015/16 District Yearbook 6 To every player who donned their club colours with pride ….. To every player who entered the field of fair play …. To every player who always tried their best …. To every player who played with great spirit …. To every player who celebrated personal and team success …. Now a couple of thank you’s, to Grant Kean for all his efforts with Glenmore Park Junior Cricket, Melinda Shanahan for doing such an outstanding job as manager & Mick Pelle for his invaluable help with coaching. Now to the team, congratulations on a great season, I couldn’t be more proud of how the boys played, the batting, bowling & fielding were awesome. Everything we worked on at training the boys put into practice on game day. After each game I thought they couldn’t possibly play any better, but they kept surprising me by improving in all areas of the game. They played the game in the right spirit from the start, with having fun the most important part. They have also formed a tight knit group, when I told them they were the premiers all they asked was “but do we play together next week”. 2015/16 District Yearbook 9 From clapping & cheering on the sidelines when we were batting, to running in for high fives in the field after each wicket, the boys gave each other great support which all good teams do. Lastly I would like to thank all the parents for their support which made my job so much easier. Without fail we had a large group of supporters to each game which made a significant contribution to the boys winning U-10’s. So to each player, Alex, Ryan, Campbell, Cooper, Ethan, Mitchell, Logan, Teghvir, James, Shivdev, Raghav & Michael, great effort and let’s make next season even better. GO REDBACKS! Tuesday, 4 August 2020 Legislative Assembly- PROOF Page 1 LEGISLATIVE ASSEMBLY Tuesday, 4 August 2020 The Speaker (The Hon. Jonathan Richard O'Dea) took the chair at 12:00. The Speaker read the prayer and acknowledgement of country. [Notices of motions given.] Bills GAS LEGISLATION AMENDMENT (MEDICAL GAS SYSTEMS) BILL 2020 First Reading Bill introduced on motion by Mr Kevin Anderson, read a first time and printed. Second Reading Speech Mr KEVIN ANDERSON (Tamworth—Minister for Better Regulation and Innovation) (12:16:12): I move: That this bill be now read a second time. I am proud to introduce the Gas Legislation Amendment (Medical Gas Systems) Bill 2020. The bill delivers on the New South Wales Government's promise to introduce a robust and effective licensing regulatory system for persons who carry out medical gas work. As I said on 18 June on behalf of the Government in opposing the Hon. Mark Buttigieg's private member's bill, nobody wants to see a tragedy repeated like the one we saw at Bankstown-Lidcombe Hospital. As I undertook then, the Government has taken the steps necessary to provide a strong, robust licensing framework for those persons installing and working on medical gases in New South Wales. To the families of John Ghanem and Amelia Khan, on behalf of the Government I repeat my commitment that we are taking action to ensure no other families will have to endure as they have. The bill forms a key part of the Government's response to licensed work for medical gases that are supplied in medical facilities in New South Wales.
