1. The purpose of the Society shall be the promotion of ARCHAEOLOGY, especially as connected with the investigation of the ANTIQUITIES AND HISTORY OP SCOTLAND. 2. The Council shall consist of the Office-Bearers, the three representative Members above specified, and nine Fellows, elected by the Society. 16. Three of the nine elected Members of Council shall retire annually by rotation, and shall not again be eligible till after the lapse of one year. Vacancies among the elected Members of Council and Office- Bearers occurring by completion of term of office, by retirement on rotation, by resignation, by death or otherwise, shall be filled by election at the Annual General Meeting.
