Ledding Library News

VOLUME 18, ISSUE 11 NOVEMBER 2017 Friendly, Good Deeds Last month the Library celebrated, for the first time, National Friends of Libraries Week. This campaign drew attention to the many good deeds and support the Friends give the community of Milwaukie through their support of the Library. Throughout the Library there were markers on the furniture and in front collection areas to let the community know which things had been purchased by the Friends for the community at the library including the circulation countertop. Their reach goes far beyond the walls of the library: it is in the minds of the thousands of youth and adults that participate in library programs, where participants are given books to keep or taught something new and interesting. It is in the yards and gardens of the community members who purchase plants that fund library programs, it is in the seeds they plant given and saved through the Ledding Seed Swap and on shelves of countless homes from used book purchases, all made possible by the Friends’ fundraising. Thank you Friends of the Ledding Library. Without you so much of what the library is able to do day-in and day-out would not be possible.
