Nosso objetivo é - a partir de fontes consultadas na sede da Fifa e de uma discussão sobre o papel da seleção uruguaia e do futebol como identidade nacional – tentar compreender a conquista esportiva no contexto da construção de memórias do passado autoritário uruguaio, considerando o “esquecimento” da vitória durante 2 décadas, inclusive por parte da Associação Uruguaia de Futebol.
