he Royal Club (RKC) is now listed as an iconic historic building on the Klang Heritage TWalk. President Dato’ Ang Ben Kiong and the General Committee (G.C.) have taken the initiative to put on display the Club’s CHAIRMAN artefacts from the past and also pictures of RKC’s past presidents on the Mr. Jacob Mathews walls of the Club’s lobby. RKC’s history must not be forgotten in the face of our Club’s expansion EDITOR and improvements. This was prompted by a letter, handwritten in Yap’s own inimitable style, where he shared the contributions and sacrifices made by him and a select "band of brothers", led by the then RKC president Dr Lim Sian Lok, in rescuing the club when it was in dire financial straits in the 1970s. A copy of that letter is reproduced here for the benefit of our members. In his letter Yap recalled that sometime in the 1970s, the Club owed the then Chartered Bank more than RM20,000 (a princely sum even way back then!).

Hothiyakumar, 59, who for many years also helmed the Club’s Sports section, is always in the thick of the action where RKC’s social and recreational activities are concerned. Be it making a dash with a hockey stick or dribbling on the football field during RKC’s social games, scrambling up a hill on a Hash run or staying in shape at the gym, he is the typical outdoors man for whom the Club plays a big part in his social and recreational life.

We are all responsible for creating a positive environment and ending violence in the lives of children and youth.

We deplore the recent tragic deaths of T. Nhaveen, 18, who was brutally attacked and died of his injuries on June 15, 2017 and navy cadet officer Zulfarhan Osman Zulkarnain, 21, who died on June 1, 2017 after a brutal case of bullying.
