Shiseido to Open “ISETAN BEAUTY PARK” in Park City Isetan I

Shiseido Co., Ltd. and Isetan Co., Ltd. will open “ISETAN BEAUTY PARK,” an urban spa salon complex situated in the Park City Isetan I within Isetan’s Shinjuku flagship store, on February 25, 2004. This complex has been realized through a joint project between Shiseido and Isetan in response to the increasing worldwide demand for urban spa salons. *Urban spa salon complex comprises a spa salon, hair salon, café and cosmetic store, thus enabling one to relax both the mind and body at a facility in the heart of the city.

ISETAN BEAUTY PARK comprises: ① “Beauty Park Salon SHISEIDO” (hair salon) ② “Beauty Park Spa DECLÉOR” (a spa using French aromatherapy cosmetic brand products) ③ “Beauty Park Café half Sweets” (café) ④ “TEETHART” (dental whitening salon)

①-③ above will be operated by Shiseido Beauty Salon Co., Ltd., a wholly owned subsidiary of Shiseido, with target sales of ¥150 million (retail base) for the first fiscal year.

Background of “ISETAN BEAUTY PARK” Recently, there has been a growing customer interest in utilizing professional beauty and relaxation treatments such as massage, makeup and nail care, rather than just using cosmetic products alone. In addition, salon complexes comprising hair, esthetic and spa salons, which are located in department stores or hotels in both cities and resort areas, are attracting widespread attention throughout Europe and the United States. In response to such customer demand, Shiseido and Isetan will open “ISETAN BEAUTY PARK” in the Shinjuku district. This project has been realized through a collaboration between Shiseido, which operates hair salon (Shiseido Beauty Salon), spa (Decléor) and restaurant (Shiseido Parlour) businesses within its Group, and Isetan, which boasts a high capability to pull in customers and a huge space with a parking area covering more than 400m² in Shinjuku. “ISETAN BEAUTY PARK” is a facility designated not only for women but also for men, whose interests in fashion and beauty have been increasing more and more in recent years.

Shiseido’s Professional Business Shiseido is positioning the wholesale of salon products, as well as the operation of hair salon and spa salon businesses, as the professional business segment, and is strengthening this overall area as one of its three business pillars next to the cosmetics and toiletry businesses. While cultivating its international spa brands such as CARITA and Decléor, Shiseido also focuses on the management of directly operated salons, including the esthetic salons “Visage Hiroo” (1994), “Shiseido Qi Salon” (1998) and “Kirana Spa ”(2000) in Bali, the foot-treatment esthetic salon “pied confort” (2001), and the facial treatment salon “amies confort” (2003).

Decléor, a prestige cosmetic brand based on aromatherapy and phytotherapy concepts, was born in France in 1974. Its skincare products, which contain no preservatives and are made with ingredients such as essential oils from plants, are highly acclaimed and sold mainly in perfumeries and esthetic salons in over 70 countries worldwide. “Beauty Park Spa DÉCLEOR” is the biggest Decléor spa salon in the world. A total of five spa rooms are located in the ample space covering approximately 160m², and together with several available treatment courses, corrects skin, mind and body conditions with aroma essences. Skincare and hair care products that are easily used at home are also sold in the store. In addition, the men’s skincare line Decléor Men (88 items; ¥3,200-¥20,000 price range, ¥3,360-¥21,000 with tax) is also available.

This is Japan’s first “low-food” café that meets the health-conscious needs of urban dwellers. Low-food refers to health-conscious food that originated in New York and which is cooked under 48ºC. In addition to low-foods, a variety of menus are available, including an organic menu and a sweets-style menu with not-so-traditional sweets, in addition to Shiseido Beauty Foods products. Shiseido Parlour will be in charge of developing new menus, and together with a menu lineup that is affordably priced, it is the ideal place to visit for relaxation after using spa or salon services, during lunchtime or just for a light snack.
