LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENT SERVING YOUR CLUB WMR hosted it's third annual Tire Rack Teen Street Survival driving clinic on a fabulous "summer" day on Sunday, October 8. Short sleeves and sunscreen were the order of the day as thirteen students had an enjoyable educational experience learning to handle their cars under simulated emergency conditions. The students left with much more insight into the limits of their cars and confidence in their abilities to control them. Many thanks to Don Sazama who continues to be the prime mover of organizing the event, Frank Connor for handling classroom instruction, Terry Schieble for his work as Head Driving Instructor, Amber Door for handling registration, Colin Mike Karluk Carpenter and minions for setting up the driving courses, the intrepid driving instructors, and President, Mike Karluk Jim Chiavaras Brenda Hildon-Kaempf Amber Door Western Michigan Region everyone else who helped with the setup and cleanup. Last but not least, thanks to Marshall and President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, 2016 Porsche Cayman GT4 2014 Cayman S 1995 1984 Coupe John Walters for bringing the donuts! Barb and I shall be hosting the Holiday Appetizer Party at our home overlooking Lake Michigan on Saturday, December 2nd. I've got a number of different champagnes for the event that are just begging to be sampled and there will be another large chocolate Santa Claus to be raffled off for our charity.

I'm interested in your impressions of the new newsletter cover. There was discussion initially as to whether "Porsche Club of America" or "West Michigan Region" should be above the "Uber Alles." The rationale for PCA being first was that PCA is the umbrella organization and therefore merits top billing, though there was merit to emphasizing the West Michigan Region. Please email me your thoughts at [email protected] and let the will of the people be fulfilled. No votes for succession, please!

Porsche is moving ahead rapidly on the development of their electric vehicle programs. Hybrid Panameras and Cayennes are here and the Mission E and electric 911 will likely be joining us in the not too distant future. It kind of casts new light upon debates about the virtues of air-cooled versus water-cooled, manual versus PDK, and naturally-aspirated versus turbocharged, doesn't it?

Mission E will be Porsche’s first all-electric vehicle Looking forward to seeing you soon! and it is planned to enter production in 2019 CHAIRPERSONS · SERVING YOUR CLUB -Mike
