In telecrurns dated 6 and 8 September 1962 (S/5162 and Add.l) addressed to the Secretary-General, tlle Prirr.e Minister and Minister of External Affairs and the ActinG l':t.'ill:.e Minister and Minister of External Affairs of the State of Trinidad and TocaGo submitted the application of their country for admission to rr.embership in the Ullited Nations. At its 1018th meeting on 12 September 1962, the 8ecurity Council included the two applicatioD3 in its agenda and considered them in connexion with two joint draft resolutions submitted by Ghana and the United Kingdom. The first draft resolution (S/5164) related to the application of Jamaica, and the second (8/5165) to the a9plication of Trinidad and Tobago. Following statements by all the members of the Council, the Council unanimously adopted the two resolutions recommending to the General Assembly that it admit Jamaica and Trinidad and Tobago to membership of the . 12.
