A. Rayner, Geological Engineer Texas Board of Water Engineers June 1959 INTROIXJCTION In order to evaluate the effects of ground-water development in relation to available supply, periodic measurements of water levels are made in selected observation wells throughout the state as a part of an observation well program conducted cooperatively by the Texas Board of Water Engineers and the U. S. Geological Survey. This publication contains water-level measurements made in observa- ticD wells in 23 Southern High Plains Counties in 1958 and 1959. Measure- ments of the depth to 'Water are in feet below land-surface. A map showing changes in water levels accompanies the individual water-level tables for each of the 23 counties. Changes in the water levels from 1958 to 1959 are indicated by red (decline) or blue (rise) figures. The assistance of the High Plains Underground Water Conservation District No. 1 and the Panhandle Ground-Water Conservation District No. 3 South of the Canadian River, in the Southern High Plains observation well program, is gratefully acknowledged.
