PALAVRAS-CHAVE: Kung-fu; História do esporte; Arte Marcial. ABSTRACT As a millenarian practice, Kung-Fu is an object of difficult study when one observes the great historical-sociocultural transformations that took place in China. This fact is further aggravated when one searches for academic sources of origin or even for trust outside the Chinese language. The objective of this work was to present a historical review of a popular Kung-Fu style with almost a thousand years of existence - the Eagle Claw.

The Nationalist Party first defined the Incident as a rebellion by pro-Japanese forces and communist saboteurs. As the enemy of the Nationalist Party in China’s Civil War (1946-1949), the Chinese Communist Party initially interpreted the Incident as a Taiwanese fight for political autonomy in the party’s wartime propaganda, and then reinterpreted the event as an anti-Nationalist uprising under its own leadership.

LIFE / HEALTH & FITNESS / FITNESS & EXERCISE Congratulations to Wudang San Feng Pai! February 11, 2013 8:35 PM MST View all 5 photos Master Zhou Xuan Yun (left) presented Dr. Ming Poon (right) Wudang San Feng Pai related material for a permanent display at the Library of Congress. Zhou Xuan Yun On Feb. 1, 2013, the Library of Congress of the United States hosted an event to receive Wudang San Feng Pai. This event included a speech by Taoist (Daoist) priest and Wudang San Feng Pai Master Zhou Xuan Yun and the presentation of important Wudang historical documents and artifacts for a permanent display at the Library. Wudang Wellness Re-established in recent decades, Wudang San Feng Pai is an organization in China, which researches, preserves, teaches and promotes Wudang Kung Fu, which was said originally created by the 13th century Taoist Monk Zhang San Feng. Some believe that Zhang San Feng created Tai Chi (Taiji) Chuan (boxing) by observing the fight between a crane and a snake. Zhang was a hermit and lived in the Wudang Mountains to develop his profound philosophy on Taoism (Daoism), internal martial arts and internal alchemy. The Wudang Mountains are the mecca of Taoism and its temples are protected as one of 730 registered World Heritage sites of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO). Wudang Kung Fu encompasses a wide range of bare-hand forms of Tai Chi, Xingyi and Bagua as well as weapon forms for health and self-defense purposes. Traditionally, it was taught to Taoist priests only. It was prohibited to practice during the Chinese Cultural Revolution (1966- 1976).

  • Meihuaquan E Shaolinquan, Intrecci Leggendari

Box 1346 Ann Arbor, Ml 48106- 1346 2 Abstract Abstract This thesis considers the Chinese Blueshirts organisation from 1932 to 1938 in the context of Chiang Kaishek's attempts to unify and modernise China. It sets out the terms of comparison between the Blueshirts and Fascist organisations in Europe and Japan, indicating where there were similarities and differences of ideology and practice, as well as establishing links between them. It then analyses the reasons for the appeal of Fascist organisations and methods to Chiang Kaishek. Following an examination of global factors, the emergence of the Blueshirts from an internal point of view is considered. As well as assuming many of the characteristics of a Fascist organisation, especially according to the Japanese model and to some extent to the European model, the Blueshirts were in many ways typical of the power-cliques which were already an integral part of Chinese politics.

Rockefeller Archive Center Research Reports Online is an ongoing publication of the Rockefeller Archive Center (RAC) under the general direction of James Allen Smith, Vice President of the RAC and Director of Research and Education. Research Reports Online is intended to foster the network of scholarship in the history of philanthropy and to highlight the diverse range of materials and subjects covered in the collections at the RAC. These reports are drawn from essays submitted by researchers who have visited the Archive Center, most of whom have received grants-in-aid from the Archive Center to support their research. The ideas and opinions expressed in this report are those of the author and not of the Rockefeller Archive Center. The Rockefeller-founded China Medical Board and the Rockefeller Foundation’s International Health Commission/Board/Division (hereafter, IHC/B/D) maintained operations in China from the early to mid-twentieth century. These efforts developed in close relation to Rockefeller-funded endeavors elsewhere in the world, though they soon adopted emphases and methods to address the particularities of the Chinese case. Although initially hindered by a highly volatile and violent political environment, by 1930, these Rockefeller-affiliated health philanthropies forged an enduring partnership with the Kuomintang (KMT or Chinese Nationalist Party)-led government founded in 1927.
