“MOVIN ON” Available Now on Parlophone/Warner Bros. Records New single “MOVIN ON” available now on Parlophone/Warner Bros. Records August 1, 2018 (Los Angeles, Ca) – Paul Weller released a new single entitled “Movin On” from his eagerly awaited forthcoming album True Meanings, set for global release on September 14th. True Meanings is Weller’s fourteenth solo album and twenty-sixth studio album during his incredible career and the first new music since 2017’s internationally acclaimed album A Kind Revolution. The lush, string-laden “Movin On” is out now and showcases Weller’s vocals at their very best. The track came about as the result of a “scratchy demo” on his phone that was sent to producer Tom Doyle of the White Label project, who co-wrote the track with Weller along with fellow White Label cohort Anth Brown (who also contributes bass to the track). Talking about this process, Weller explains: “I’m never, ever too proud to give a song over to someone else, to see what they might be able to bring to it: that’s what it’s about really, I always want to see what people can add to my ideas. The older you get, and the more stuff you’ve done, the more important that is.” Click here to view and share the “Movin On” lyric video “Movin On” follows another new song from True Meanings, “Aspects”, which was released on May 25th to mark Weller’s 60th birthday. Click here to view and share the “Aspects” lyric video True Meanings is available for pre-order now. Fans who pre-order the album will receive instant downloads of both “Movin On” and “Aspects”. VOCAL 78 rpm Discs Minimum bid as indicated per item. Listings “Just about 1-2” should be considered as mint and “Cons. 2” with just the slightest marks. For collectors searching top copies, you’ve come to the right place! The further we get from the time of production (in many cases now 100 years or more), the more difficult it is to find such excellent extant pressings. Some are actually from mint dealer stocks and others the result of having improved copies via dozens of collections purchased over the past fifty years. * * * For those looking for the best sound via modern reproduction, those items marked “late” are usually of high quality shellac, pressed in the 1950-55 period. A number of items in this particular catalogue are excellent pressings from that era. * * * Please keep in mind that the minimum bids are in U.S. Dollars, a benefit to most collectors. * * * “Text label on verso.” For a brief period (1912-14), Victor pressed silver-on-black labels on the reverse sides of some of their single-faced recordings, usually with a translation of the text or similarly related comments. BESSIE ABOTT [s]. Riverdale, NY, 1878-New York, 1919. Following the death of her father which left her family penniless, Bessie and her sister Jessie (born Pickens) formed a vaudeville sister vocal act, accompanying themselves on banjo and guitar. Upon the recommendation of Jean de Reszke, who heard them by chance, Bessie began operatic training with Frida Ashforth. She subsequently studied with de Reszke him- self and appeared with him at the Paris Opéra, making her debut as Gounod’s Juliette.

  • PRESSEMITTEILUNG 07.03.2017 Paul Weller Im
FKP Scorpio Konzertproduktionen GmbH Große Elbstr. 277 a ∙ 22767 Hamburg Tel. (040) 853 88 888 ∙ www.fkpscorpio.com PRESSEMITTEILUNG 07.03.2017 Paul Weller im Frühsommer auf Tour The „Modfather“ is back!

  • Bc Salsa: Identity,Musicianshipand Performance in Vancouver’Safro-Latinorchestras
BC SALSA: IDENTITY, MUSICIANSHIP AND PERFORMANCE IN VANCOUVER’S AFRO-LATIN ORCHESTRAS by MALCOLM Al KEN B.Mus., The University of British Columbia, 2004 A THESIS SUBMITTED IN PARTIAL FULFILLMENT OF THE REQUIREMENTS FOR THE DEGREE OF MASTER OF ARTS in THE FACULTY OF GRADUATE STUDIES (Music) THE UNIVERSITY OF BRITISH COLUMBIA (Vancouver) August 2009 © Malcolm Aiken, 2009 11 ABSTRACT For over twenty-five years, musicians, dancers and singers of Afro-Latin music have maintained an active presence in the culturally diverse music scene of Vancouver, BC. During this time, the music performed and created by this group of artists has undergone dynamic changes in sound and function, reflecting a new transcultural music identity. This music, commonly referred to as salsa, is being created, performed and transformed by musicians of all backgrounds and social classes. Local composers are incorporating a variety of musical influences into their music and assimilating elements of the city’s music cultures. Today, an eclectic mix of musicians in Vancouver are creating new forms of music rooted in the Afro-Latin music traditions, and are establishing a unique contemporary musical scene. At the forefront of salsa’s local history are the Afro-Latin dance bands prominent in the city’s dance community. Their impact on the musicians and local music culture has been paramount and pivotal to the exposure of salsa to a mainstream Canadian audience. One prominent factor in the continued growth of the music has been the influence of the many non—Latino musicians who have assimilated into the salsa community as performers. Their musical and cultural influences have helped push the music in new directions and maintained the music’s relevance within the wider arts community.
