MATCH PREVIEW: It’s another quick turnaround for Fury FC, as the club returns to USL action Sunday evening in Bethlehem to close out a jam-packed stretch of five games in 14 days, which saw them play three USL games and two Canadian Championship fixtures.

Ottawa has won back-to-back games with high-scoring affairs against Richmond (5-3 Win) and Red Bulls II (4-3 Win) that has helped Fury FC climb the USL standings. Looking to extend their winning streak to three games, Fury FC will also be looking to run their road unbeaten streak to four contests following wins in New York and Richmond and a draw in Charleston.

While the club did see its fairytale run in the Canadian Championship come to an end Wednesday night falling to Toronto FC, their performance in the two-legged semifinal should provide added confidence and some valuable lessons too.

After spending the past few weeks shifting focus from league play to cup play and back again, Fury FC now just have a singular goal: continue their recent success in USL and keep scoring goals. In their last two USL games, Ottawa scored eight goals, generated 31 shots towards the opposition goal – of which 18 were on target. Ottawa has also had some very strong performances away from home this season and have scored nine goals in five road contests

With his two-goal performance last weekend against the Richmond Kickers, in a 5-3 Ottawa win, Sito Seoane was named to the USL Team of the Week. The American-born Spaniard has scored four goals in his last four games and will be looking to carry on his good run.

Bethlehem snapped a two-game losing streak last Sunday with a 3-1 win over the Harrisburg City Islanders. Brendan Burke’s side will be the fresher side against Fury FC, as they played their last game a week ago. Sunday’s match will be the last of a three-game home stand for Bethlehem Steel FC (1W-0D-1L).

Fury FC will have to keep an eye on Seku Conneh, who is Steel FC’s leading scorer. Conneh is currently tied for 8th in the USL, having scored five goals.

WHAT THEY’RE SAYING: Fury FC GM and Head Coach, Paul Dalglish: “We are in great form at the moment, being able to hang with a team of the level of TFC for 170 minutes certainly confirms our belief in what we are doing and increases our confidence. We now need to take what we learned in the series and use it to grow as a team. The USL is our bread and butter and we want to get back to winning ways in the league.”

Fury FC Captain, Lance Rozeboom: “It’s a tough turnaround for us, once again. We had 8 games in the month of May so it was a difficult stretch. Sunday, we will probably need other guys to step up and I’m very confident in anybody on our team. Bethlehem is another good team and it’s going to be a challenging game for us but this team is ready for every challenge. I expect another hard-fought match but we will be ready.”

Fury FC Defender, Kyle Venter: “Our run in the Canadian Championship gives us a lot of positives to work on. We played pretty toe-to-toe with the best team in the MLS so it’s positive. We’ll learn from it and now move on to Bethlehem and back in USL play. The mood is positive and the guys are ready to go. No game in this league is easy so Bethlehem will be another tough game. We have a close-knit group and no matter who is out there, we’re confident and we’ll be ready.”
