Head coach Brendan Burke

Burke is in his second season as head coach of Bethlehem Steel FC, coaching the squad to a 18-26-18 record over his tenure. He was formally introduced as the club’s first head coach on Oct. 29, 2015. Prior to joining Steel FC, Burke served as an assistant coach for the Philadelphia Union from 2011 through 2014. He was heavily involved in all levels of the U.S. Soccer pyramid, including serving as head coach of the Union’s PDL affiliate Reading United from 2008-13 where he had a record of 71-18-19. During his time with Reading, Burke coached 49 players that signed professional contracts including Ray Gaddis, C.J. Sapong, John McCarthy and . Burke served as associate head coach at Northeastern University in 2015.

Assistant coach Jeff Cook

Cook is in his second season as an assistant coach with Bethlehem Steel FC and currently serves as head coach for the U-19 team at the Philadelphia Union Academy. Cook coached the U-16 team from 2013-15 and under his leadership, the U-16 squad had one of its best seasons in 2014-15. The club finished 21-3-2 and earned the No. 2 national seed in the USSDA playoffs. The team fin- ished third at the national semifinals in Carson, Calif. Prior to joining the academy, Cook served as the head coach of Dartmouth College for 12 years. While at Dart- mouth, Cook led the program to five conference titles and seven trips to the NCAA tournament, including a pair of Sweet 16 appearances.

Assistant coach Stephen Hogan

Hogan is in his second season with Steel FC. He also serves as the head coach of the Philadelphia Union’s PDL affiliate, Reading United. In his first season as Reading’s head coach, Hogan led the team to a 10-3-1 record, the Mid-Atlantic Division title, and an appearance in the Eastern Conference finals. He made 52 appearances for Reading, while playing from 2007-10, and holds the second-most appearances in club history. He led the team to the 2009 PDL regular season title and the PDL national semifinals in 2008 and 2010. A native of Dublin, Ireland, Hogan spent two seasons as head coach at the College of Saint Rose’s men’s soccer program. While on the staff of the Albany, N.Y. based college, Hogan established the Golden Knights training program, was active in recruiting players and monitored the academic progress of his student athletes.

Goalkeeper coach Jay Cooney

Cooney brings vast experience to Steel FC and is in his second season as goalkeepers coach and video coordinator. Before joining Steel FC, Cooney served on several women’s soccer championship staffs: the Bay Area CyberRays in 2001 and FC Gold Pride in 2009. He was the goalkeeper coach for the Stanford women’s soccer team from 2003-14. During his time with Stanford, the team had a 73-match home unbeaten streak, a 64-match regular season unbeaten streak, a 51-match home winning streak, eight consecutive NCAA Sweet Sixteen and a NCAA Championship in 2011.
