The contractor on the project, R. E. Pierson Con- Tstruction, has switched traffic onto the newly constructed sections of the bridges. Walton Road, Plymouth Township: After the traffic was shifted to the northside of Walton Road in February 2009, the contractor began preparations for the demolition of the northern half of the existing bridge. The demolition was completed on April 26, 2009. New beams were placed in October 2009 and traffic began using the new structure in February, 2010. On Walton Road, construction crews paved the approaches, placed temporary pave- ment markings and reset temporary concrete barrier the first week in February to accommodate shifting traffic to the newly constructed portion of the bridge. The contractor removed the girders on the northern half of the existing bridge in early March. DeKalb Pike (Route 202), Whitpain Township: On July 19, 2009 the southside of the existing structure was removed. New beams were placed in October 2009 and the contractor continues to move forward
