Silk, Shai & Case FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE SEPTEMBER 24, 2013 RIVER ROCK CASINO RESORT PRESENTS SILK, SHAI & CASE SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 1 Richmond, BC – One of the top R&B vocal groups of the 90’s, Silk was discovered by musician Keith Sweat. Originally a quintet, the group was made up of Tim Cameron, Jimmy Gates, Jonathan “John-John” Rasboro, Gary Jenkins and Gary Glenn. In 1992, their debut album, Lose Control was released. The album – which featured the hit singles, “Freak Me”, “Happy Days” and “Girl U For Me” – went on to achieve double-platinum status. They then released their self-titled album in 1995 followed by Tonight in 1999 which was certified platinum and featured the hit singles, “If You” and “Meeting In My Bedroom”. The R&B quartet, Shai was formed at Howard University in Washington, DC where three of its four members – Marc Gay, Carl Martin and Darnell Van Rensalier – belonged to the same fraternity, Alpha Phi Alpha. Along with their good friend, Garfield A. Bright, they released their debut album, … If I Ever Fall In Love in 1992. The album featured the hit singles, “If I Ever Fall In Love”, “Comforter” and “Baby I’m Yours” and was certified double-platinum. The group returned two years later with the single, “The Place Where You Belong” which was featured on the Beverly Hills Cop III soundtrack. R&B singer Case began his music career as a co-writer and background singer for such artists as Usher, Christopher Williams and Al B. Sure. He then made a name for himself in 1996 when his single, “Touch Me, Tease Me” – which he recorded with Mary J. Blige and rapper Foxy Brown – was featured on The Nutty Professor soundtrack and reached #4 on the R&B charts. His self-titled album soon followed and featured the hit singles, “More to Love” and “I Gotcha”. His next album, Personal Conversation was then released in 1999 and produced the hit singles, “Happy Ever After” and “Faded Pictures” … both of which reached #3 on the R&B charts with the album going on to achieve platinum status. His 2001 album, Open Letter featured the hit single, “Missing You” which not only topped the R&B charts but it also reached #1 on the Billboard Hot 100. Don’t miss Silk, Shai and Case when they’ll be performing all their hits in the ultimate concert event at the River Rock Casino Resort on February 1, 2014. • Assessing Innovation in Comparative Tender Assessment in the Road Sector
ASSESSING INNOVATION IN COMPARATIVE TENDER ASSESSMENT IN THE ROAD SECTOR Pardeep Kumar Oad Master of Engineering (Research), Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) Submitted in fulfilment of the requirements for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy School of Architecture and Built Environment Faculty of Engineering Queensland University of Technology 2021 Keywords Road industry; Bid evaluation; Innovation; Road construction, Project management, Factors of innovation; Global warming; Tendering. Assessing Innovation in Comparative Tender Assessment in the Road Sector i Abstract Innovation in the field of road construction offers significant community and industry benefits by making an important contribution to economic growth and enhancing the quality of projects. However, achieving better innovative practices to improve existing construction processes and to heighten competitiveness has become a challenge for the road industry. Innovation in the context of this research refers to the use of suitable materials in the construction of roads, such as eco-friendly roads, solar roads, and recycled materials. Moreover, innovation in the road construction industry is cocreated in a multiparty designed, shaped and environment, therefore it is important to analysis the bidder’s skills and resource capability against the project requirements. Therefore, in the bid evaluation process in the road construction sector, it is important to consider innovation as well as the other factors. This research examines the factors related to innovation in the bid evaluation process in the road construction sector. It proposes a model of innovation and bid evaluation to explore a variety of components and factors of innovation in the road sector, including innovative activities, impacts, benefits, inputs, drivers, factors, enablers and bidders’ capabilities in developing suitable roads.

  • The Music of Rhythm Willie Can Be at Once a Blues Harmonica Fan's Most Exciting and Most Frustrating Discovery
Copyright Scott Dirks, for Blues & Rhythm magazine The music of Rhythm Willie can be at once a blues harmonica fan's most exciting and most frustrating discovery. His recordings reveal a technically accomplished and musically innovative player, with few peers on the standard 10-hole Marine Band harmonica in his day. A strong case can be made for his position as the first truly urban blues harp player; at a time when the harmonica was still used in black music essentially for 'country' adornment, Rhythm Willie was utilizing it with the urbanity of a jazz trumpeter or clarinetist. Yet until recently almost nothing was known of him other than the sound of his harmonica in the grooves of a handful of rare 78s recorded in Chicago between 1939 and 1950. Overlooked by blues researchers and historians for over 40 years, mention of his name draws only blank expressions or resigned shrugs from most blues authorities. Listening for biographical clues in his music reveals virtually nothing about the artist--his only recordings as a leader were all instrumentals. Further compounding the mystery, most of Willie's appearances as an accompanist on the recordings of other blues artists are attributed to "unknown harmonica" or "possibly Lee McCoy" in published discographies (a situation which this article will examine and attempt to rectify.) In fact, given his extraordinary range and talent, referring to Rhythm Willie as simply a "blues" harmonica player might be slightly unfair, and in retrospect it's easy to imagine that Willie himself may have gone to some lengths to avoid being classified with the blues harp players he probably considered to be his musically less sophisticated country cousins.
