Michael Hulsey’s path to owning Lima’s Gifts of Joy - Parable Christian store is all about love. Better known as Mike, the 58-year-old Lima native fell in love and married his late wife, Janice, and it was originally her idea to purchase the store. “We grew up in the same church, the First Baptist Church on Cable Road,” said Mike who is a 1975 graduate of Shawnee High School. The business owner attended Miami University and graduated in 1979 with a degree in environmental design. “I always liked to build things,” he Mike Hulsey describes the store’s inventory as, “Nearly everything we carry has something of Christ in said. “I had to intern and take a test to it, or on it, or about it.” become an architect and get my license.” Returning to Lima following college, he pursued Janice, but at fi rst she resist- ed his charm.
