Bermejo Coordinador do número especial Por que nas aulas de química sempre hai unha táboa periódica? Por que nos despachos de moitos dos profesores e profesoras de química existe esa táboa ou se atopa sobre o seu escritorio? Por que se lles indica ao alumnado de química que cómpre saber, canto antes, o nome e o símbolo dos elementos químicos, así como coñecer a súa posición no sistema periódico? Por que o bo alumnado de química conta cunha táboa periódica entre os seus materiais de traballo? Por que e cal é a transcendencia do coñecemento do sistema periódico, ou táboa periódica, dos elementos químicos?...por que??? Todas estas e moitas máis preguntas sobre a táboa periódica serán contestadas ao longo deste libro. As respostas a estas preguntas, xunto con outras motivacións que atoparedes ao longo deste libro, determinaron que, este ano no que estamos, esteamos celebrando o Ano Internacional da Táboa Periódica, declarado así pola Asemblea Xeral da ONU para conmemorar moitas das efemérides que, no ano 2019, están tendo celebracións como se lembrará repetidamente nos moitos artigos que compoñen este libro. ENCIGA súmase a estas celebracións publicando este exemplar, dedicado fundamentalmente á Táboa Periódica, cuxa coordinación se encargou a quen realiza este prólogo. Nun dos artigos deste libro lémbrase que a química é a ciencia do porqué e do para que. O porqué lévanos a cuestionar todo o noso coñecemento, a formularnos un monte de preguntas sobre aquilo que cremos saber, a buscar as correspondentes respostas ás dúbidas que temos; á...; polo tanto a tratar de saber, de recoñecer o noso pasado para comprender o presente e, deste xeito, formularnos sen medos a procura do futuro. O para que representa o salto cualitativo, o avance do coñecemento, o aproveitamento do saber adquirido, a utilización dos novos materiais obtidos, o... A Química trata de explotar o coñecemento que nos dá a ciencia, sobre os novos elementos, sobre os seus compostos, sobre os novos materiais, sobre...; para tratar de mellorar o modo de vida da nosa sociedade. Neste libro aparecen unhas 230 páxinas, contidas en 15 capítulos, escritos por moi distintos compañeiros e compañeiras da nosa asociación, que tentan dar luz e respostas ás preguntas do porqué e do para que sobre a Táboa Periódica. O libro comeza cun capítulo no que o colectivo CienciaNOSA elaborou un proxecto ambicioso para a celebración deste ano 2019 como Ano Internacional da Táboa Periódica. Este proxecto foi presentado, como un avance, no derradeiro congreso de ENCIGA (XXXI congreso) celebrado en Lalín. Canto alí se presentou aparece neste capítulo; pero foise agrandando con moitas novas achegas, que se recollen agora. As intencións son moi boas: cómpre que o País responda e se comprometa no cumprimento dos seus obxectivos. Este proxecto pretende que toda Galicia comprenda o que é e o que aportou ao avance da sociedade moderna a ordenación dos elementos químicos que realizou Dimitri Mendeleev, hai agora 150 anos. Ademais pretendemos facer noso un dos obxectivos da ONU para a celebración deste ano “...promover o desenvolvemento, a formación e a docencia no uso da táboa periódica”. De modo que, este proxecto pretende resaltar a transcendencia do uso da nosa táboa na aula para acadar unha mellora na aprendizaxe da química. Ramón Cid escribe un amplo traballo titulado “D. I.
