Its design cues – striking lines, muscular shoulder and tapered roof – have become synonymous with style and contemporary city life. Now the vehicle is going even further. Available in HSE Dynamic and HSE Dynamic LUX models, new Range Rover Evoque EXTERIOR Convertible, the world’s first premium compact convertible SUV, sets new standards in design, capability and sheer driving pleasure. Optional adaptive full LED headlamps complement the vehicle’s design cues by combining a distinctive look with enhanced light output for better visibility and safety at night. The headlamps’ adaptive function enable light beams to be automatically aligned with steering inputs and follow curves in the road. The Daytime Running Lights have a distinctive signature, which also serve as the directional indicator by flashing amber. It is electrically operated, with opening and closing being easily controlled via a switch mounted in the centre console; an action that can be completed whilst the vehicle is travelling up to 30mph. The roof is available in Ebony which complements the complete colour palette. The roof has an acoustic inner lining to reduce road noise and also to provide insulation to the cabin. The tailgate has been developed to allow easy access to the loadspace. The loadspace capacity remains unchanged regardless of the roof position and is able to accommodate a standard golf bag, or a baby buggy. Confident and responsive, the drive is further enhanced by a generous wheel articulation and innovative off-road technologies such as Terrain Response, which is standard. This feature adapts to the responses of the vehicle’s engine, transmission, differentials and chassis systems to maximise driveability, comfort and traction. There are four Terrain Response settings: General Driving, Grass/ Gravel/Snow, Mud & Ruts and Sand. So, the vehicle feels sure-footed no matter what the terrain or weather conditions. Operating like a cruise control system, it functions at very low speeds between 1mph and 18mph, helping the driver to maintain full concentration on steering and finding a path through obstacles. The system is enhanced by a dedicated Launch feature, which enables the vehicle to pull away smoothly and easily, even on tricky low-friction surfaces like ice, sand or wet grass. Developed by Land Rover’s industry-leading all-terrain specialists, the system requires no additional hardware or sensors, and works seamlessly alongside the standard Terrain Response and four-wheel drive traction and braking systems. Once All-Terrain Progress Control is activated, the standard steering wheel +/- cruise control buttons are used to set the speed. Brake and accelerator pedals can still override the chosen settings, with gentle braking achieving a reduction in speed. Sensors in the door mirrors provide real-time information of water depth which is presented on the Touch-screen along with the vehicle’s maximum wading capability of 500mm. HILL DESCENT CONTROL Land Rover’s patented Hill Descent Control (HDC) is a standard feature that assists the driver with controlled descents of difficult slopes by maintaining a constant speed and applying braking separately to each wheel. Hill Start Assist ensures the vehicle doesn’t roll backwards as it pulls away on an incline. The vehicle also utilises Gradient Release Control (GRC) which is designed to prevent the vehicle accelerating too quickly on a steep incline when the driver inadvertently releases the brake. *Only available with Surround Camera System and Blind Spot Monitor.     JAGUAR LAND ROVER RETAIL SALES CONTINUE TO RECOVER IN QUARTER ENDING DECEMBER 2020 WITH CHINA SALES GROWING YEAR-ON-YEAR Whitley, UK, 11 January 2021 – Jaguar Land Rover marked the end of 2020 with a second successive quarter-on-quarter recovery in sales, despite the continuing impact of Covid-19. Retail sales for the quarter ending 31 December 2020 were 128,469 vehicles, 13.1% higher than the 113,569 vehicles sold in the preceding quarter, but down 9.0% on the same period last year. China sales were particularly encouraging, up 20.2% on the prior quarter and 19.1% year-on-year. Retail sales in most other regions also continued to recover and were up significantly on the prior quarter in North America (+31.7%), Overseas (+26.6%) and Europe (+20.5%). However, sales in these regions have not yet recovered to pre-Covid levels with sales for the quarter lower than a year ago in North America (-17.2%), Overseas (-20.0%), Europe (-16.3%) and the UK (-8.9%). The sales ramp-up of the new Land Rover Defender saw retails rising to 16,286 vehicles in the October to December quarter, up 66.0% on the preceding quarter with sales of the shorter wheelbase Defender 90 having started. For Jaguar, retail sales of the multi award-winning all- electric I-PACE were up 69.3% year-on-year with 7,807 sold in the quarter, as demand for electric vehicles continues to grow. For the calendar year 2020, Jaguar Land Rover retail sales were 425,974, down 23.6% on 2019, reflecting the industry impact of Covid-19 particularly in the first half of the year when plants were shut down for more than two months.
