Isaiah 15-16  announces ’s destruction.  In chapter 16 Isaiah identifies some of the reason for Moab’s punishment: o Excessive pride, arrogance, and fury o Why are these dangerous characteristics for individuals and peoples?

Proverbs 2  Seek wisdom like you seek for silver. How would this change the outcome of your strivings? o How will wisdom benefit you?

Isaiah 17-18 -22  And the destruction continues… this time to the city of  , , and Arabia will also be taken. God is bringing Damascus. an army against them. And we see them putting their hope in o In those days, why will people look to the Lord? their wealth and strength, but this too will fall.  too will be destroyed. Again, the Lord is bringing  The peoples continue to trust in their own ingenuity instead of down the mightiest of nations. And relying on your own the Lord who provides. strength plays a part in their destruction. Proverbs 5 Proverbs 3  In this proverb, there’s the focus changes from what to seek to  Why might kindness and truth be important together? (In other what to avoid. We are to avoid immorality (in all its forms). words, why is it important to have BOTH kindness and truth?) Why? o How might we trust in the Lord with all our heart? o How do YOU lean on your own understanding?  If discipline is so good, why do we seek to avoid it so much?  Do any other proverbs stand out to you in Chapter 3?

Isaiah 19-20  As God turns his attention towards , it’s clear that he’s  And now destruction comes to Tyre. A city of trade and really coming against their idols and gods. The people will rely merchants will not prosper once the Lord comes. on their idols and wise men, and they will fall. o How do we rely too much on our own strength, instead Proverbs 6 of putting our hope in the Lord?  Here we learn from nature: even the ant works in the summer gathering provision in the harvest. Proverbs 4 o How do you give in to being lazy?  What would it look like to love wisdom?  Why should we bind instructions onto our hearts and tie them  When do we NOT take hold of instruction (even when we around our necks? should)? o How are commandments a lamp and a light?  When are times when you are tempted to turn to the right or the left?
