Because in the night Ar of Moab is laid waste And destroyed, Because in the night Kir of Moab is laid waste And destroyed, 2 He has gone up to the temple and Dibon, To the high places to weep. Moab will wail over Nebo and over Medeba; On all their heads will be baldness, And every beard cut off. QUESTIONS: ISAIAH 15:1-2 1 The burden against Moab. WHAT HAPPENED TO THESE CITIES? WHY AT NIGHT? WHY IS THE LORD GOING TO DESTROY THEM? WHO HAS GONE TO THE TEMPLE? WHY? WHY ARE THE PEOPLE BALD AND SHAVEN? READ: GENESIS 19:36-38 37 Both the daughters of Lot were with child by their father. The firstborn bore a son and called his name Moab; he is the father of the Moabites to this day. 38 The younger, she also bore a son and called his name Ben- Ammi; he is the father of the people of Ammon to this day. READ: NUMBERS 32:33-38 33 Moses gave to the children of Gad, to the children of Reuben, and to half the tribe of Manasseh the son of Joseph, the kingdom of Sihon king of the Amorites and the kingdom of Og king of Bashan, the land with its cities within the borders, the cities of the surrounding country. 34 The children of Gad built Dibon and Ataroth and Aroer, 35 Atroth and Shophan and Jazer and Jogbehah, 36 Beth Nimrah and Beth Haran, fortified cities, and folds for sheep. 37 The children of Reuben built Heshbon and Elealeh and Kirjathaim, 38 Nebo and Baal Meon (their names being changed) and Shibmah; and they gave other names to the cities which they built. And the LORD showed him all the land of Gilead as far as Dan, 2 All Naphtali and the land of Ephraim and Manasseh, all the land of Judah as far as the Western Sea, 3 The South, and the plain of the Valley of Jericho, the city of palm trees, as far as Zoar. READ: JOSHUA 13:15-21 15 Moses had given to the tribe of the children of Reuben an inheritance according to their families. 16 Their territory was from Aroer, which is on the bank of the River Arnon, and the city that is in the midst of the ravine, and all the plain by Medeba; 17 Heshbon and all its cities that are in the plain: Dibon, Bamoth Baal, Beth Baal Meon, 18 Jahaza, Kedemoth, Mephaath, 19 Kirjathaim, Sibmah, Zereth Shahar on the mountain of the valley, 20 Beth Peor, the slopes of Pisgah, and Beth Jeshimoth — 21 All the cities of the plain and all the kingdom of Sihon king of the Amorites, who reigned in Heshbon, whom Moses had struck with the princes of Midian: Evi, Rekem, Zur, Hur, and Reba, who were princes of Sihon dwelling in the country. READ: DEUTERONOMY 23:3-6 3 An Ammonite or Moabite shall not enter the assembly of the LORD; even to the tenth generation none of his descendants shall enter the assembly of the LORD forever, 4 Because they did not meet you with bread and water on the road when you came out of Egypt, and because they hired against you Balaam the son of Beor from Pethor of Mesopotamia, to curse you. 5 The LORD your God would not listen to Balaam, The LORD your God turned the curse into a blessing for you, because the LORD your God loves you.
