Zanuncio5 Abstract Blue gum chalcid, Leptocybe invasa Fisher & La Salle (Hymenoptera: Eulophidae), causes galling damage to Eucalyptus species (Myrtaceae) in various regions of the world, but has been controlled effectively by its primary parasitoid, Selitrichodes neseri Kelly & La Salle (Hymenoptera: Eulophidae). The objectives of this study were to evaluate the recovery of S. neseri after its initial release on Eucalyptus plants in Brazil and to provide data on its biology. Selitrichodes neseri was imported from South Africa to Brazil for the biological control of L. invasa, in Mar 2015, and recovered from Aug 2015 to Dec 2016. Successful recovery of this parasitoid shows its potential to become established in the field. Seedlings of 2 hybrids obtained from crosses between rose gum Eucalyptus grandis W. Hill. ex Maiden and flooded gum Eucalyptus urophylla S. T. Blake and between Eucalyptus sp. and (river red gum Eucalyptus camaldulensis Dehnh. × E. grandis) showed potential as hosts for culture of S. neseri on L. invasa in the laboratory because up until the adult parasitoid emergence these seedlings did not wilt. When reared at 25.1 to 26.0 °C, the total number of parasitoids and the proportion of male parasitoids were highest, relative to hosts reared at 26.1 to 27.0 °C. Peak emergence ofS. neseri occurred 28 d after parasitism. Key Words: emergence; exotic pest; gall wasp; parasitoid; South Africa Resumo Vespa-da-galha, Leptocybe invasa Fisher & La Salle (Hymenoptera: Eulophidae), causa galhas danosas às espécies de Eucalyptus (Myrtaceae) em várias regiões do mundo, mas tem sido efetivamente controlada por seu parasitoide primário,Selitrichodes neseri Kelly & La Salle (Hymenoptera: Eu- lophidae). Os objetivos deste estudo foram avaliar a recuperação deS. neseri após sua liberação inicial em plantas de Eucalyptus no Brasil e fornecer dados sobre sua biologia. Selitrichodes neseri foi importado da África do Sul para o Brasil para o controle biológico de L. invasa em março de 2015 e recuperado de agosto de 2015 a dezembro de 2016. Recuperação com sucesso deste parasitoide mostra seu potencial para se tornar estabelecido no campo. Mudas de 2 híbridos obtidos a partir dos cruzamentos Eucalyptus grandis W. Hill. ex Maiden and Eucalyptus urophylla S. T. Blake e entre Eucalyptus sp. e (Eucalyptus camaldulensis Dehnh. × E. grandis) mostraram potencial como hospedeiro para se criar S. neseri em L. invasa em labora- tório porque até a emergência do parasitoide adulto essas mudas não murcharam. Quando criado de 25,1 a 26,0 °C, o número total de parasitoides e a proporção de parasitoides machos foram maiores, relativo aos hospedeiros criados de 26,1 a 27,0 °C. O pico de emergência de S. neseri ocorreu aos 28 dias após parasitismo. Abstract: The species of Megastigmus Dalman 1820 (Hymenoptera: Chalcidoidea: Torymidae), related with Eucalyptus species (Myrtaceae) from Australia were reviewed. A total of 33 species of Megastigmus were studied, with nine species described as new: chrisburwelli, erolhasani, judikingae, lawsoni, leptocybus, rieki, thailandiensis, thitipornae, zvimendeli. Three new synonymies are created: adelaidensis Girault syn.new = maculatipennis Girault, ater Girault syn.new = tasmaniensis Girault, trisulcus Girault syn.new = voltairei (Girault). All species were described in detail, with photographs of their diagnostic characters and available biological data provided. Some new diagnostic characters of the genus were found and added to the generic diagnosis of earlier authors. An identification key is provided for the treated Megastigmus species. Species of Megastigmus were recorded as parasitoids of the gall inducer insects or as a gall inducer in several parts of plants. INTRODUCTION Eucalyptus camaldulensis is one of the best known eucalyptus trees outside Australia and economically is the most important hardwood species of the dry lowland in the entire Mediterranean and Middle East regions (1). Over the last decade, the invasive eucalyptus gall wasp, Leptocybe invasa Fisher & LaSalle (Hymenoptera: Eulophidae) became established in the Mediterranean Basin (2-8), and subsequently spread to Sub-Saharan Africa, India and South-East Asia (9) and recently Brazil (10).

Casaccia Sustainable Territorial and Production Systems Department Biotechnologies and Agroindus- try Division Agrifood Sustainability, Quality and Safety Laboratory, Rome, Italy Abstract The larval parasitoid Quadrastichus mendeli (Hymenoptera: Eulophidae: Tetrastichinae), a highly effective parasitoid of the inva- sive blue-gum chalcid Leptocybe invasa (Tetrastichinae) was discovered to have been accidentally introduced to Italy, where it was never released. Over the last three years, Q. mendeli has become widespread in central and southern Italy, determining in some places the almost complete disappearance of the gall wasp pest. We genetically characterized the parasitoid, confirmed its placement within the genus Quadrastichus by phylogenetic analysis, and evaluated the percentage of parasitisation at three locali- ties. We provide other examples of parasitoids that crossed country boundaries without being released, ignoring long and expen- sive risk assessment aimed at limiting the importation and release of exotic natural enemies. Thiel, USDA, 2 July 2008). It was suspected that the galls were caused by the blue gum chalcid, Leptocybe invasa Fisher & LaSalle (Hymenoptera: Eulophidae). Specimens were reared and submitted to Dr. Michael Gates (Systematic Entomology Laboratory, USDA-ARS, Washington DC) for confirmation of identification. This gall-forming wasp was described from Australia in 2004 (Fisher and LaSalle 2004). Within the past decade, it has become established in the Mediterranean Basin, Sub Saharan and South Africa, India, Southeast Asia and Brazil (Anonymous 2007; Kumar et al 2007; Mendel et al 2007; Kim et al 2008). DESCRIPTION: The female adult wasp is 1.1-1.4 mm long (Fig. 1). The body is brownish in color with a blue to green metallic sheen. Fore coxae are yellow, mid and hind coxae brown. The scape of the antennae is yellow, with the rest of the segments brown. Males are unknown. The blue gum chalcid produces galls in the form of distinct swellings on the petioles, leaf midribs and stems on new foliage of both young and mature trees (Fig.
