  • Greetings from the President
NEWSLETTER//04 GREETINGS FROM THE PRESIDENT Dear Members, It seems a long time since we welcomed those of you who attended the Rolex FEI World Cup™ Finals in Leipzig; however it was a great pleasure to see you all in Germany. As well as three days of entertaining Show Jumping finals, it also provided a prime opportunity for JOC members to meet and discuss any pressing matters. I have outlined below issues that we have debated; should you have any thoughts or feedback, please feel free to contact me. Best Regards, Christian Baillet CLUB UPDATE It gives me great pleasure to introduce the newest members of the JOC. All are individuals fully dedicated to Show Jumping and I am confident they will benefit the club in growing the popularity of the sport. I remain committed to the goal of increasing our membership figures, and I would like to extend my warmest welcome to Mr. Fiorelli from Italy, Mr. Romo from Mexico, Mr. Pellegrin from France, Mrs. Debany from the USA, Mr. Känhy from Switzerland, and Lady Forbes from Ireland. Following our previous meeting at the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games™, the club is in a strong financial state. With assets available to spend on initiatives which would help grow the membership of the JOC, I open the table up for discussion on any opportunities in which you, as members, feel the JOC should invest in. A topic introduced in Leipzig was the development of a JOC website to better inform all members, and followers of the sport, of our initiatives and commitment to the development of Show Jumping.

PRESS RELEASE He has it - Nick Skelton wins the Mercedes-Benz Championat Hamburg - "I won the Mercedes" - Nick Skelton had barely stepped out of the Mercedes convertible and grabbed his phone to spread the news of his win in the Mercedes-Benz Championat. The Hamburg spectators at the German Jumping and Dressage Derby experienced the European Championship bronze medallist and his Holstein bred gelding Carlo in best form: the quick British rider's fault free round in 46,53 seconds was enough to secure the key to the elegant Mercedes-Benz convertible. The Swiss rider Steve Guerdat finished in second place on the Holstein bred gelding Carpalo. "I'm very happy that he did such a good job. I see a lot of potential in this horse", said the Swiss Nations' Cup rider. France's Simon Delestre followed in third place with Napoli du Ry. The French national trainer recommended that his "first group" start at the German Jumping and Dressage Derby. The best German rider was fifth place finisher Ludger Beerbaum with Chiara. The four-time Olympic champion revealed his thoughts as he said, "I have Gotha and Chiara here, but as good as Chiara was today, I think I'll ride her Saturday in the Global Champions Tour competition as well". The 14,500 spectators triggered a lot of enthusiasm on the first - and somewhat cool - day of the German Jumping and Dressage Derby. They were well prepared and conquered the spectator bank and bleachers. For example in the dressage stadium. That's where the Grand Prix de Dressage was decided.

Dachte man zumindest.

We are back in business with a full schedule of Hunter, Jumper and Equitation classes, VIP hospitality, and spectators! Last year was very difficult with COVID-19 testing us at every turn and forcing the closing of our venue at Capital One Arena. But after a comprehensive search, we found the perfect partner in Tryon International Equestrian Center which generously hosted a modified show with several signature WIHS classes including the WIHS President’s Cup Grand Prix. We’re delighted to be at Tryon’s first-class facilities again this year to celebrate the full show with new events such as the Medium Junior/Amateur Jumper Division and WIHS Halloween Pony Hunt Teams alongside the return of many treasured WIHS traditions.

  • To the National Federation Dear President Dear General Secretary
To the National Federation Dear President Dear General Secretary We are proud and happy to be able to invite you to the fourth year of the Riders Academy for promising riders (18 – 23 of age). We are sure that this initiative will be of great benefit to your Federation and for your young athletes. The “Riders Academy” has been developed by a group of equestrian professionals with the cooperation of the International Jumping Riders Club (IJRC) and with the generous support of Rolex. The aim of Riders Academy is to assist in training show jumping young talents and preparing their career as future professionals in this sport. The Riders Academy program, thanks to Rolex, will give the chance to five to six promising riders to get about six months of “tailor-made” training and boarding at a well-known professional stable with no costs. On top of that, the program also includes professional education in communication, business and economics, veterinary and legal practice connected to show jumping. The ambition is to create future ambassadors of equestrian sport! Each European Federation is invited to enter up to three candidates for the program. Out of these entries, a selection panel consisting of Emile Hendrix, Jean-Maurice Bonneau, Otto Becker and Sven Holmberg will select about 25 riders who will be invited to one of two events either in Arezzo during the week 5 – 9 April or to Redefin in northern Germany 12 – 14 of May, depending on travel distance. By the mid of May, the above panel will identify the final participants.
