Dear Residents,

We are excited to bring to you our Weehawken Day program! It all began in 1991 as a simple idea to encourage the closeness and camaraderie that the township has always enjoyed. The Weehawken Day Festival is designed for old and new residents to come together to learn more about the township, its people and its activities.

Join with your friends and neighbors for a great day that brings all of the resid ents together in a central location for some old -fashioned fun and entertainment. This is the perfect opportunity to get to know each of our Civic and Fraternal Organizations by seeing what each has to offer. The fun starts on Saturday, October 5 at 12 Noon and continues until 6:00 PM at the Weehawken Waterfront Park. In the event of rain, the Festival will be held the next day, Sunday, October 6 from 1:00 PM – 6:00 PM.

See you all at the Festival!

North Hudson Regional Fire & Rescue “Fire Safety House”

New way to learn about fire safety

This Fire Safety House is a teaching mobile laboratory, which prepares all ages for the unexpected occurrence of fire through the use of several real-life simulations. The house is equipped with many devices that help teach a variety of fire safety concepts. A fog machine, which generates simulated non-toxic smoke allows children to practice "crawling low" in a fire situation. It gives a sight, sound, smell and feel experience of what it's like to be in a real fire making it easier to learn when all senses are involved.

A sobering view of what impairment can do! WEEHAWKEN ELKS BPOE #1456 The Elks are proud to be a part of the Drug awareness program of the BPO Elks. With the use of the Drug Awareness Trailer and the Fatal Vision Goggles the Lodge hopes to get the message to our youth about the dangers of drinking.

The Fatal Vision® Impairment Simulation Goggles are a hands-on awareness building tool that allows people to experience, with a sober mind, what it's like to be under the influence of alcohol. Participants experience how alcohol impairs a person's balance, vision, reaction time, and judgment. Simple activities with the Fatal Vision® Goggles such as walking a line, one -leg stand, reaching out to grab a set of car keys, or tossing a ball become important “aha” moments as the participant realizes how susceptible they are to potentially dangerous consequences of impairment.
