OM NAMO BHAGAVATE PANDURANGAYA BALAJI VANI Volume 7, Issue 1 January 2013 OM NAMO BHAGAVATE PANDURANGAYA BALAJI VANI Volume 7, Issue 1 January 2013 Hari OM Guru Vandana is celebrated at Balaji Temple on Dec 6-8 to thank the Guru for his sevas, support and guidance. Program started on Dec 6th with kalasha stapana, initiation and mantra given by Swamiji Anandanatha, the founder of Balaji Temple, to all devotees who performed puja. Swamiji performed purification and invocation of the Almighty Lord to have his presence all three days. The second day, Dec 7, Swamiji re-invoked all the gods and goddesses and performed Mahalakshmi abhishekam with Navagraha puja. The third day, Dec 8, 108 Kalasha Sathya Narayana puja and 108 Kalasha abhishekam for Lord Balaji was performed by Swamiji followed by Puja katha. The puja was followed by salutations to our Guru Swamiji Anandanatha. Devotees Meenakshi and Vittala Das performed padapuja to Swamiji. Priest Girisha Sharma performed Guru puja by reading Guru ashtotram and stotram. Afterwards, Swamiji gave a speech to the devotees: “ Parma pujya Sri Sri Sri Jagadguru Dr. Balagangadhanatha Swamiji !! May all auspiciousness be unto Sri Srinivasa who has been worshipped by teachers and their predecessors. !! Hari the Jewel – crest of Sesasaila. Pardon me for all the Sins committed by me, an ignorant being. 108 Kalasha Satya Narayana Pooja If You do not forgive my trespasses done out of ignorance, then Your Naamam as Hari will become meaningless; further, Your sankalpam to leave Parama Padham in favor of Thirumalai would become an act without any purpose. Therefore, Oh Venkatesha, Please forgive my apacharams and bless me. My Guru is Maha Vishnu. When we started the temple in 2005 we began with stapana of Shri Lakshmi Venkateshwara. I prayed to Lord Vishnu to give me support and strength. God listened to my prayers and we got a major donation from Poonam and Prabhu Goel. My father had given me a mantra many years before when I was a child. He told me to chant the mantra and that it would always protect me and guide me. While praying that day I asked MahaVishnu to appear in the fire and to walk to the moorty and stay with us. He did appear and told me He would remain with us, guide me and keep me next to him. One unbelieving devotee was actually the one who took the photo that shows Lord Balaji walking from the fire to the moorty! That is how God works to help all of us just as we need. Here we are celebrating our first Guru Vandana program in our new temple. We must learn to recognize when God is communicating with us here in the middle of maya. I would like to thank you all for joining us here to celebrate with the Almighty Lord. You all come and seek the Lord’s blessings and He will illuminate you”. Later, Sri Poonam and Prabhu Goel were honored. Prabhuji thanked Swamiji and talked about Swamiji’s dedication, discipline, wisdom and service to all devotees. Later Swamiji announced that Goel’s family is donating $100,000.00 to the temple to help with the construction of the Ananda Community Hall. Swamiji spoke about how God is so great: “He tests us by putting sugar in with grains of sand to make us learn to seek out His sweetness only in this life. The Goel’s family offer of the large donation came spontaneously during the puja. That is how God gives. The Goel family sees how dedicated we all are to Balaji Temple and they felt inspired in the puja to donate and help further the temple.” Swamiji announced the Board had elected Lakshmi Vittala Dasi to return as the Secretary. Many devotees, including Lakshmi, Babu Dinakaran, Elango Velayutham, Rajesh Kamath, Ravi Mulka, Krishna Sheelam, Ravi Rao, Vittala Das and Madhumita Bannerjee spoke about Swamiji’s goodness and the effect of his guidance in their lives. Swamiji honored the devotees with malas and shawls. Guruvandana Program (Dec 6-8 2012) Sankata Hara Chaturthi was performed on the Chaturthi days like every month, Abhishekam for Lord Venkateswara, Lord Shiva and Vasavi Devi matha were also performed. We welcomed the New Years in a grand fashion with Puja until midnight of New Year’s Eve. Devotees joined in the puja and sang Bhajans glorifying the event. Sri Balaji Guru Vandana was celebrated grandly with 108 kalasha Ganapathi abhishekam, 108 kalasha Balaji abhishekam, Mahalakshmi abhishekam and Sathya Narayana Pooja. On Friday 20th November, 108 kalasha sthapana (presenting to God) for Balaji abhishekam was done. Families sat individually and invoked almighty lord doing sankalpa (resolution) and performed Ganapthi, Navagraha Poojas and Mahalakshmi abhishekam. Pitathipathi Sri Narayananada Swamiji initiated and led all the devotees in reciting mantras. Later, everyone was enchanted with the Mahalakshi abhishekam. Vittal Nithyananda Swami spoke about the meaning of Guru (Teacher). He talked about how the temple has grown today since the 2006 Charasthapatha of Balaji into a spacious place where devotees can come to feel one with God anytime and also how the Balaji Guru Vandana has become such a grand event every year. In this first major international excursion, Bose’s works were celebrated as an exemplar of the new modern visual language adopted by nationalist artists as they rejected Europeanized academic techniques in vogue around the turn of the twentieth century. Along with stalwarts like Abanindranath Tagore, Asit Haldar and Kshitindranath Majumdar, the ‘swadeshi’ (indigenous) artists marked an emphatic turn to revive an ‘Indian’ aesthetic that has been seen to direct the course of modern Indian art since the early twentieth century. All glories to Srila Prabhupada and Srila Gurudeva. Today is the most auspicious day of Sri Guru Purnima, celebrated all over the world with different moods. That is the greatness of Srila Sanatana Goswami. Srila Prabhupada's Explanation of Guru Vandana: So Sanatana Goswami is guru. Caitanya Mahaprabhu is authorizing him to become guru. This is parampara system. Nobody can become guru all of a sudden. Self-made guru, that is not guru. Here, Sanatana Goswami is presented as the disciple, ideal disciple. He is asking, ‘ke āmi’, ‘kene āmāya jāre tāpa-traya', process how to approach guru, how to ask him question. Tad viddhi praṇipātena paripraśnena sevayā [Bg. 4.34]. Paripraśna means question. That is also required. But Caitanya Mahaprabhu is authorizing him. Therefore He says, kṛṣṇa-śakti dhara tumi [Cc. Madhya 20.105]. Here Krishna, Caitanya Mahaprabhu, He is authorizing Sanatana Goswami. Unless he has got the power to receive the instruction, Caitanya Mahaprabhu is not going to waste His time.
