CONCEPT & DESIGN: Data from this report can be explored interactively on the RSPO website: Catalyze Sustainability Communications www.rspo.org/en/acop_2012-2013 OPENING ADDRESS he RSPO is once again pleased to publish the RSPO ACOP Digest (RAD) prior to RT11 based upon the data collated from the Annual Communications T of Progress (ACOP) reports that were submitted by its members. There was a significant increase in report submissions in tandem with the increased number of members in the RSPO, thus continuing the ascending inclination of compliancy towards the requirement to submit the ACOP reports. For this year, as per the Code of Conduct, only Ordinary and Affiliate Members that joined RSPO before the first of June 2012 were obligated to submit their respective ACOP reports. Members from all seven stakeholder categories were required to submit their ACOP 2012/2013 reports with the questions varying for each category to appropriately reflect the actual activities, distinctive contributions and level of commitment of each organization towards sustainable palm oil. The Time-Bound Plan (TBP) has always been an essential aspect within the ACOP process which will enable us to gauge the commitment by key stakeholders towards 100 percent RSPO certified sustainable palm oil, providing an indication on the pace of the RSPO toward achieving our vision of transforming markets to make sustainable palm oil the norm. This year, in favour of RSPO’s continuous desire for progress, we have upped the ante in terms of the TBP. Firstly, members who submit their ACOP without filling or completing their TBPs on when they expect to fully commit to 100% CSPO would be regarded as ‘Non- Submitters’. Following the approval of Resolution 6D at GA9 in Singapore last year, parallel with efforts to increase uptake of Certified Sustainable Palm Oil (CSPO), the relevant stakeholders are now required to share their plans that exhibits their continuous TABLE OF CONTENTS progress in evolving their current supply chains towards 100 % physical uptake of CSPO, which also includes, at the very least, provide an immediate commitment to green certificates obtained through the Book and Claim system till that can be achieved. OPENING ADDRESS ........................................................................ 1 The ACOP, paired with the TBP, will give a clear and precise indication on where the needle is on the meter as we attempt to accurately gauge the volume of CSPO KEY HIGHLIGHTS ............................................................................ 2 being produced and purchased across the supply chain through the commitment, strategies and activities of RSPO members from all the stakeholder groups. THE BIG PICTURE ........................................................................... 4 TIME BOUND PLANS .................................................................... 14 Though showing signs of continuous and consistent improvement, there must be more robust transformations, stronger drive and even higher levels of commitment SUPPLY CHAIN MODELS ............................................................... 16 if we wish to start seeing more obvious signs of market transformation that we desire. GROWER MARKETS ..................................................................... 20 In conclusion - thank you to all our members that carried out their responsibility DEMAND MARKETS ..................................................................... 24 in submitting this year’s ACOP.
