Calvin Johnson scored four touch- downs and accumulated 149 yards of total offense in the rst half to lead the Spartans (5-0) to a 44-0 rout of Archbishop Williams,Satur- day night, at Manning Field. The Bishops (2-2) came to Lynn after knocking off Bishop Fenwick the previous week, but proved no match for St. Mary’s, which scored all its points in the rst half. “We always have a great deal of respect for Archbishop Williams and their program,” St. Mary’s coach Matt Durgin said. “Our kids just came out very focused again and did what they needed to do.” The only downside for the Spar- tans was an ankle injury to run- ning back Abraham Toe, who left the game in the rst half and did not return. “We don’t know how severe it is,” Durgin said. “We’ll check with the trainer and know more this week.” Before he departed, Toe scored the Spartans’ rst touchdown, a 43-yard run up the middle on the third play of the game. Toe’s 2-point conversion rush made the score 8-0, just 53 seconds into the game. James Brum eld (98 yards-9 rushes) closed out St. Mary’s second drive with a 49-yard run, again up the middle, and the Spartans in- creased their lead to 14-0, with7:33 left in the rst quarter. Johnson scored the next four touchdowns for the Spartans. On their next offensive series, he capped off 43-yard, 5-play drive with a 9-yard sweep around right end. On the rst play of the Bishops’ ensuing series, Williams quarter- back Jack Rega fumbled.
