Miles This nicely maintained asphalt trail follows the Huron River basin through Lower Huron, Willow, Oakwoods and Lake Erie Metroparks, and the communities of Flat Rock, Brownstown and Gibraltar to the Lake Erie shoreline. After you cross the covered bridge in Flat Rock, pay close attention to the bike path signage to navigate east along Gibraltar Road. You’ll find ice cream shops, stores and good places to eat in Flat Rock. As you enter Lake Erie Metropark, check out the historical marker for the Battle of Brownstown. Lake Erie Metropark is a great place to relax or picnic along the Lake Erie shoreline. Huron River Water Trail The 28-mile section of the Huron River shown on this map is part of the 104-mile Huron River Water Trail. You’ll find easy access to this section of the river at the Metroparks and Huroc Park with one portage at the Flat Rock dam.
