However, Sony provided no unified service for the system, so support for network Languages features was specific to each game and third-party server, and there was no interoperability of cross-game presence. Five years later during the development stage for its third home console, the PlayStation 3, Sony expressed their intent to build upon the functionality of its predecessor by creating a new interconnected service that keeps users constantly in touch with العربية [5] [6] Azərbaycanca a "PlayStation World" network. In March 2006, Sony officially introduced its unified online service, tentatively named "PlayStation Network Platform". It can range from 3 to 16 characters in length and consist of letters, numbers, hyphens and underscores. A user's Online ID is central to your PSN profile and is displayed when playing online games and using other network features. In April 2019, Sony enabled users to change their online PSN ID.[23] Users have the option to disclose their real name aside their Online ID, add a personal description, exhibit a profile picture or avatar, and list all spoken languages. Profiles also include a summary of a player's Trophy level and recent activity. PlayStation 4 users have the additional option to tie a Facebook account to their PlayStation Network account, and their profile picture will automatically update whenever they change their Facebook picture. Profiles can be viewed via the user interface or online through the PlayStation website. A Portable ID is a small infographic intended for use as a forum signature. The graphic showcases a user's trophy level and number of trophies awarded. Each user is able to log into their PSN account using a web browser to access and customize their Portable ID, and are then given a unique URL which they can cut & paste to display their ID elsewhere on the internet.[24] Several third-party websites offer similar graphics (commonly referred to as "trophy cards") as both free and paid services which either update automatically or are updated manually by the user.[25] Trophies [edit] Trophies are in-game awards presented to gamers for hitting specific targets or reaching certain milestones (e.g. completing a difficult level or defeating a certain number of enemies). There are four different types of trophy awarded. A bronze, silver, or gold trophy is contingent upon the difficulty of the accomplishment, with each reward contributing to a level system attached to a player's profile. A platinum trophy is awarded to the player once they unlock all other trophies in the base game; smaller sized games, however, generally do not have a platinum trophy. In addition, each trophy is graded by popularity—common, rare, very rare, and ultra rare—based on the percentage of people who have unlocked it. Developers can choose to make various trophies hidden so that its value and description are not revealed until after the user has obtained it.[26] PlayStation Plus [edit] PlayStation Plus, abbreviated to PS Plus, is a paid-for PlayStation Network subscription service that provides users with access to premium PlayStation Plus features. • Robotic Pets in the Lives of Preschool Children
Robotic pets in the lives of preschool children Peter H. Kahn, Jr., Batya Friedman, Deanne R. Pérez-Granados and Nathan G. Freier University of Washington / Stanford University / University of Washington This study examined preschool children’s reasoning about and behavioral interactions with one of the most advanced robotic pets currently on the retail market, Sony’s robotic dog AIBO. Eighty children, equally divided between two age groups, 34–50 months and 58–74 months, participated in individual sessions with two artifacts: AIBO and a stuffed dog. Evaluation and justification results showed similarities in children’s reasoning across artifacts. In contrast, children engaged more often in apprehensive behavior and attempts at reciprocity with AIBO, and more often mistreated the stuffed dog and endowed it with animation. Discussion focuses on how robotic pets, as representative of an emerging technological genre, may be (a) blurring foundational ontological categories, and (b) impacting children’s social and moral development. Keywords: AIBO, children, human–computer interaction, human–robot interaction, moral development, social development, Value Sensitive Design Animals have long been an important part of children’s lives, offering comfort and companionship, and promoting the development of moral reciprocity and responsibility (Beck & Katcher, 1996; Kahn, 1999; Melson, 2001). Yet in recent years there has been a movement to create robotic pets that mimic aspects of their biological counterparts. In turn, researchers have begun to ask important questions. Can robotic pets, compared to biological pets, provide children with similar developmental outcomes (Druin & Hendler, 2000; Pérez-Granados, 2002; Turkle, 2000)? How do children conceive of this genre of robots? It is a genre that some researchers have begun to refer to as “social robots” (Bartneck & Forlizzi, 2004; Breazeal, 2003): robots that, to varying degrees, have some constellation of being personified, embodied, adaptive, and autonomous; and Interaction Studies 7:3 (2006), 405–436.

Melson Purdue University Peter H. Kahn, Jr. University of Washington Alan Beck Purdue University Batya Friedman University of Washington Robotic “pets” are being marketed as social companions and are used in the emerging field of robot-assisted activities, including robot-assisted therapy (RAA). However, the limits to and potential of robotic analogues of living animals as social and therapeutic partners remain unclear. Do children and adults view robotic pets as “animal-like,” “machine-like,” or some combination of both? How do social behaviors differ toward a robotic versus living dog? To address these issues, we synthesized data from three studies of the robotic dog AIBO: (1) a content analysis of 6,438 Internet postings by 182 adult AIBO owners; (2) observations ∗ Correspondence concerning this article should be addressed to Gail F. War Room Wins Box Office Over the Labor Day weekend (Sept. 4-7), the faith-based family drama War Room exceeded expectations by earning $12.6 million from 1,526 locations and taking the top spot of box office sales. It also opened as the #1 faith-based movie of 2015 and the highest in the genre since Heaven Is for Real (in April 2014). War Room is the fifth film from Alex and Stephen Kendrick (Courageous, Fireproof, Facing the Giants, Flywheel), and has enjoyed media coverage from outlets such as Associated Press, Washington Post, Entertainment Weekly, Forbes, USA Today, Entertainment Tonight, CBS, FOX News, and others. Actor/writer/director Alex Kendrick and his brother, producer/co-writer Stephen Kendrick, did exactly what one would expect devout Christians to do when it came to their latest film: they prayed for it to succeed. “We didn’t wake up one day wanting to make a movie about a 75-year-old woman’s prayer closet,” Stephen explains. “We asked God to order our steps, and the ideas came. As filmmakers, we’re laying tracks before a moving train.” “People have plans for everything in life: careers, finances, health. But what about a strategy for prayer to affect our lives, our spouses, and our children?” Alex asks. “We want to inspire, challenge, and motivate families to not just react but to plan through the right kind of battles—and to use the best resources possible.” Adds Stephen: “We’re after something here to radically improve our culture, and we want moviegoers to experience it in an inspiring and emotional story.

December 13, 2012 TF1 & Discovery Communications Continue Exclusive Negotiations The TF1 Board of Directors, meeting on December 12, 20012, gave Nonce Paolini authority to conntinue and finalise the exclusive negotiations with Discovery Communications, the world’s #1 non-fiction media company, as announced on November 13, 2012. These negotiations are aimed at forging a strategic alliance to create value in the numerous complementary activities of the two media companies, in three key areas: Develop the futture activities of Eurosport A relationship between Eurosport (the only pan-European sport channel) and Discovery Communications (whose channels are available to 1.8 billion subscribers in 217 countries), would unlock synergies and complementary capabilities, particularly at the European level, in content (sports programming, entertainment, documentaries, etc) and in development opportunities (geographical expansion, new product launches, digital rollout, etc). To this end, Discovery would take a 20% minority interest in the Eurosport group (Eurosport International and Eurosport France). The acquisition of the 20% interest would involve cash consideration of approximately €170 million ($221.6 million). Discovery also would have the possibility (via an option granted by TF1) of raising its interestt to 51% in two years’ time. If Discovery exercised its option, TF1 would have the abillity to exercise a put option over the remaining 49%, which potentially would increase Discovery’s ownership to 100%. Develop pay TV content in France The alliance also would aim to enhance the output of documentary, magazine and current afffaairs channels in order to offer French distributors a flagship range of theme channels built around the content and brand portfolios of the two groups.
