Dié dubbele tragedie het die Knoetze- en Watson-gesinne van die Oostelike Hoëveld geruk. “Ek is oukei, maar sal nou net baie sterk moet wees vir ons seun,” het ’n hartseer mnr. Willie Knoetze (32) gister gesê oor die ongeluk waarin sy vrou, Sharon (30), dood is. Die egpaar se seun, Dylan, is twee maande gelede gebore. Mev. Knoetze, wat by Sasol gewerk het, was nog met kraamverlof. Sy is dood toe die bestuurder van ’n Volkswagen Polo glo ’n stilhouteken verontagsaam het en op die pad tussen Evander en Secunda in haar Volkswagen Golf vasgejaag het. Die ongeluk het kort ná 12:00 gebeur terwyl die egpaar op pad was om video’s te gaan aflaai. ’n Motoris het oor ’n vierrigtingstop gejaag en mev. Knoetze se motor op die regterdeur getref. Die polisie ondersoek die moontlikheid dat hy dronk was. Hy is lig beseer en op die toneel in hegtenis geneem. Mnr. Knoetze is uit die voertuig geslinger. Hy het ligte beserings opgedoen en is in ’n plaaslike hospitaal opgeneem waar hy gister ontslaan is. Hy sterk by sy ouers in Pretoria aan. Hul seuntjie was by sy skoonouers, mnr. Jimmy (57) en mev. Liz Watson (57), op Delmas toe die ongeluk gebeur het. Mev. Knoetze sou op 10 Mei ’n blommemeisie op haar boesemvriendin, me. Jeanette Grobler, se troue wees. ’n Bekende motorfiets-entoesias van Secunda, mev. Zi de Klerk (54), is ook dood nadat sy ernstige beserings in dieselfde ongeluk opgedoen het. Sy het met haar Suzuki 750- motorfiets langs die Knoetzes gery. Die geweld van die slag het die Knoetzes se motor teen haar vasgeslinger. De Klerk was vir die naweek op Abrahamsrus naby Sasolburg waar sy aan die Fox Rally deelgeneem het. Sy is met veelvuldige beserings in die Medi-Clinic op Trichardt opgeneem, waar sy twee uur later dood is. Terwyl mev. Knoetze se ouers saam met familie by hul huis in Delmas saamgetrek het ná hulle die nuus oor hul dogter gekry het, het die noodlot weer toegeslaan. Mnr. Watson en sy swaer, mnr. Wentzel Herbst, is omstreeks 19:30 na die KFC om kos te gaan koop vir die mense wat by sy huis was. Oomblikke nadat hulle tuis gekom het, het kapers toegeslaan en Watson langs sy Ford Focus doodgeskiet en met die motor weggejaag. Herbst en sy twee kinders, Darian (5) en Teagan (2), het die huis ingevlug en is ongedeerd Boodskap 2. Hoekom sewe keer?” het ’n bedroefde me. Ilze van Greunen (34) oor haar man, Marius (38), se dood gesê. Mnr. Van Greunen was ’n inspekteur in die speurafdeling van die Kameeldrift- polisiekantoor voordat hy sowat ’n jaar gelede bedank het. Hy het daarna by ’n steenmakery gewerk. “Hulle kon hom mos een keer geskiet, vasgebind of oor die kop geslaan het. Dit was nie nodig om hom dood te skiet nie.” Me. Van Greunen en haar kinders, Kay (6) en Zian (4), was met vakansie in Durban ten tyde van die voorval, en het Saterdagmiddag ’n vlug na Gauteng gehaal. Sy het die kinders op vakansie geneem omdat daar sowat twee weke gelede twee keer ná mekaar by dié huis ingebreek is en die kinders “nie eens meer alleen badkamer toe wou gaan nie”. “Ek wou hulle net van alles af wegneem,” het me. Van Greunen gesê. Mnr. Louis Esterhuizen (32), mnr. Van Greunen se swaer wat op die kleinhoewe in ’n aparte huis woon, het gesê hy het Saterdag omstreeks 03:00 wakker geword van sewe skote. Hy het hom nie veel daaraan gesteur nie, want daar word glo gereeld in dié omgewing geskiet. “Ek het opgestaan en buite vir beweging gekyk, maar niks gesien nie,” het Esterhuizen gesê. “Saterdagoggend is ek dorp toe. Toe ek omstreeks 11:00 terugkom by die huis, het ek onraad vermoed want Marius se motor was nog in die oprit, die huis se deure – buiten vir sy kamerdeur – was gesluit en daar was ’n leer op na Marius se balkon. “Ek het in die huis ingegaan en Marius bo in sy kamer op sy bed gekry. Hy is sewe keer geskiet. Dit is ’n gesig wat my altyd sal bybly,” het Esterhuizen gesê. Van Greunen se skootrekenaar, selfoon en beursie is gesteel. Van Greunen se oudkollegas moes die toneel ondersoek waar hy dood is. “Toe ek die nuus hoor, kon ek dit nie glo nie,” het me. Van Greunen gesê. Volgens haar is die kinders kalm nadat hulle die nuus oor hul pa gehoor het. Kay wys na die hemel as mens haar vra waar haar pa is. Zian sê die grootste ster in die hemel is sy pa. “Hulle het my kinders van ’n pa ontneem. Vir ewig,” het me. Van Greunen gesê. ’n Roudiens vir Van Greunen sal Vrydagoggend om 11:00 in die Lewende Woord- gemeente in Montana gehou word. Kapt. Lerato Mthiyane, polisiewoordvoerder, het die voorval bevestig. En die NG kerk in die dorp se Bosveldfees Saterdag was geen uitsondering nie. Soos van ouds het die mense van heinde en ver gekom om te kom feesvier. Talle Gautengers het vir die langnaweek gekom om die fees te beleef en ook die kreatiwiteits- en tromwerkwinkels by die Bosman-museum by te woon. Die aardighede wat by die fees te koop was, het lekkernye soos maketaankonfyt en pap met kaiïngs ingesluit. Die Marico se eie woordeman, oom Piet Rympies (Swanepoel), het ’n paar “gevleuelde woorde” oor die streek se beroemdste (of is dit mees berugte?) uitvoerproduk, mampoer, gespreek. Alta Snyman het gaan kyk hoe hou die Bosvelders fees. Boodskap 5. [KOERANT]BEELD- NG KERK SABIE 75 BESTAANS JAAR Posted by: "Elizabeth Teir" [email protected] kerrieborrie Tue Apr 1, 2008 12:43 am (PDT) Naranda Nell Sabie. – Dit was ’n fees der feeste toe die NG kerk Sabie onlangs hul 75ste verjaardag gevier het. In gemaklike klere en met ’n huppel in hul stap het die gemeente na die Laerskool Sabie, wat vandag oorkant die NG kerk is, gegaan om ’n opelug-kerkdiens te geniet. Die ossewa by die laerskool staan nou op die plek waar die kerk destyds gebou is. ’n Gedenksteen is hier opgerig ter herinnering aan dié groot gebeurtenis. Hoewel die kerk reeds op 7 Januarie 1933 gestig is, is die inwyding eers in Maart daardie jaar gehou. Ná die spesiale diens by die laerskool is daar lekker saamgekuier.

A priest; a member of a religious order, or rather of a regular congregation; a priest called to mission. Often, a teacher. Today, the list of defini- tions would more or less stop here. There is nothing specifically “Jesuit” about this description, as it could apply to the members of many other Catholic religious orders. It is one of the many consequences of secularization: in the collective perception, the differences that make up the complexity of the church are lost; the identities of the religious orders fade, and with them, the meaning of schools that at one time were recog- nizable in speech, modes of being, and their presence in the world. Before the mid-twentieth century, things were different. If we step back eighty years, we encounter signs and meanings that are connected to a far more distant past. In January 1932, the Spanish republic disbanded the Society of Jesus within its territories and forfeited its benefits on the grounds that the Jesuits were loyal to a foreign sovereign: the pope. At that time, a Jesuit’s identity was much clearer: an enemy of the state, an agent in service of a great power, an agitator, equipped with great influence over women, aristocrats, and elites; and, above all, a sworn enemy to civil and scientific progress.1 This was more or less the conceptual catalog that was then in use. Now in its 13th year, the World Rugby U20 Championship has unearthed countless stars of the future and matches that have lived long in the memory. From Rugby World Cup winners such as All Blacks forward Sam Whitelock and Springboks’ fly-half Handré Pollard – the top points scorer in the RWC 2019 final – to current England captain Owen Farrell, age-grade international rugby’s premier event has provided the perfect stage to introduce exciting young talent. No less than 707 players have experienced playing at the U20 Championship before going on to be capped by their countries – enough to highlight its role in the player development pathway. Traditionally New Zealand have been the dominant force in the competition, capturing the title a record six times, with England the next-best on three. However, in recent times it is France who have emerged from the shadows. Les Bleuets won their inaugural title on home soil in 2018 before becoming the third team, after New Zealand and England, to successfully defend their crown in Argentina 12 months later with a thrilling 24-23 victory over Oceania U20 champions Australia.
