The waves of emotion can never carry me away. excerpt from "Breathing" by Thich Nhat Hanh, Call Me By My True Names (Berkeley: Parall ax Press, 1999) UStrike against Terror" is a misleading expression Terror is in the human heart. We must remove this terror from the heart. Destroying the human heart, both physically and psychologically, is what we should avoid. The root of terrorism should be identified so that it can be removed. The root of terrorism is misunderstanding, hatred and violence. This root cannot be located by the military. Bombs and missiles cannot reach it, let alone destroy it. Only with the practice of calming and looking deeply can our insight reveal and identify this root. Only with the practice of deep listening, restoring communication and compassion can it be transformed and removed. Darkness cannot be dissipated with more darkness. More darkness will make darkness thicker. Only light can dissipate darkness. Violence and hatred cannot be removed with violence and hatred.

Regular readers will remember that I am somewhat of a fan of an American TV series called Veep staring the delectably foul- mouthed Julia Louis-Dreyfus as Selina Meyer a former Maryland Senator who, in the start of the series, is the titular Vice President, or "Veep", with strained relationship with the President. After the president declines to run for a second term, she begins campaigning in Season 3. At the end of Season 3, she becomes president when he resigns for personal issues. Due to a complex manipulation of constitutional law, she loses the presidential race in season 5. It is probably the only US reboot of a British TV series which I prefer to the original, and as the Dear Friends, original was The Thick of It featuring future timelord Peter Capaldi, and future sex offenders Welcome to another issue of my favourite music registeree Chris Langham. I thought that The magazine; indeed, the one which has come closer Thick of It was magnificently funny, but overall to fulfilling the concept of a music somehow Veep (which was created by Armando magazine that I first tried to publish (and failed Iannucci when a straight graft of the UK show impressively in doing so) back thirty five years onto the American TV rosebush failed to be taken ago, when my first music fanzine was an up by the networks) manages to be first through overblown mishmash of pretension and slightly the finishing line.

and a gentler tone is present on ‘Wrong Side Of The Tracks’. Having already earned slots at titan festivals such as Bloodstock and Hammerfest and with the album’s thunderous, headbanging-provoking vibe, ‘Nothing In My Way’ certainly proves that the road ahead for Line Of Fire is obstacle free and ROTERFELD the world is their oyster. Dark Rock POWERPOINTS: 1234567812345678 True Artist CLAIRE BANNISTER CRYING STEEL ‘Stay Steel’ Metal Pride & Joy Music This Italian act released two great albums back in 1985 and 1988, fell of the face of the Earth, and then reformed in 2007. ‘The Steel Is Back’ and ‘Time Stands Steel’ were very good comeback records, but ‘Stay Steel’ sees the band finding their stride. This album has it all: scorching riffs, hummable melodies and a rhythm section that kills. And vocalist Tony Mills – yes that Tony Mills of Shy and TNT – is in impeccable form. Crying Steel is more metal than Mills’ previous groups ever were, with the likes of ‘Barricades’, the Accept-like ‘Crank It Up’, the Dokken-esque ‘Warriors’ and the heavy as hell ‘Speed Of Light’ being totally in your face. Every track, thanks in part to a stellar production, shines. I’d suggest you check out ‘Stay Steel’ ASAP, and if you like what you hear (you will), then work backwards and pick up their entire catalogue!
