We as a Circuit promise to pray for Paul, encourage him and hear God's words through him. As a probationer Paul will for the next two years continue to undergo studies and formal training for ministry whilst exercising that ministry amongst us. Welcome on board Rev Paul. Lots of Circuit events and worship will take place this quarter. Rev Geoffrey Thorpe will lead us to understand healing in September; our Circuit musical 'Revival' is also being presented in September. On October 18th we are meeting together as a Circuit to celebrate and honour the talent and commitment of our organists and musicians - a real time of thanksgiving and acknowledging commitment. This plan includes the First Sunday of Advent when we meet together again to begin our Christmas spiritual journey. I hope as many of you as are able can join in these events. The Circuit is embarking on a new prayer initiative for all and it is threefold. Firstly there will be a monthly Circuit Prayer Breakfast from 8.30am to 9.45am. Secondly, a new prayer service is being created for each member wherever they are, asking them to pray for the Circuit between 9 and 10am on a Wednesday. Thirdly, Circuit prayer meetings will be better advertised and prayer requests fed to them from the Circuit Leadership Team. Prayer is a vital undergirding to all the decisions we are currently wrestling with. Prayer is about surrendering our will to take on God's will; it is about dying to self and being made alive to the things of God's kingdom. Prayer is a place where pain is soothed and courage given. Prayer is about facing uncertainties with the certainty of God's presence. Wherever God may lead us, we discover the path by prayer, we walk the path in prayer and we arrive at our destination praying. I ask you to make this prayer your own: " For all that was - Lord, I thank You, For all that is - Lord, I praise You For all that is yet to be - Lord, I trust You." Fellow pilgrims on a journey we join together as His people and pray with one heart and mind. Your kingdom come, Your will be done. The twelve days of Christmas may have ended at Epiphany when the three kings are placed in the nativity scene at the Cathedral’s main service that day. The greater Christmas season continues into early February and concludes with the feast of Candlemas. This celebrates the moment 40 days after Jesus’ birth when he is presented in the Temple at Jerusalem.
