Un Altro Piquet Vince a Long Beach, 35 Anni Dopo Il Padre | 1 Un altro Piquet vince a Long Beach, 35 anni dopo il padre | 1 Nel 1980, Nelson Piquet Sr ha vinto la sua prima gara di Formula 1 a Long Beach. 35 anni dopo, suo figlio Nelson Piquet Jr ha seguito le orme del padre, conquistando il primo posto della gara di Formula E, diventando il sesto vincitore in sei gare di questo nuovo avvincente campionato dedicato alle monoposto elettriche. La vittoria è stata la prima per il Piquet Team China e ha portato il pilota ad un solo punto di distanza da Lucas di Grassi, leader della classifica. Jean Eric Vergne ha invece conquistato il secondo posto in gara, davanti a di Grassi e a Sebastien Buemi. “C’è un sacco di storia qui per la famiglia Piquet, questa vittoria significa molto” ha detto Piquet. “Tutto ha funzionato bene per me, non solo dall’inizio della gara, ma dalle prime prove. La macchina era perfetta e anche se non abbiamo guidato le FP2 e FP3, sapevamo di essere veloci, perché noi non stavamo usando la stessa quantità di energia delle altre vetture.” Il vincitore di Miami e precedente leader del campionato Nico Prost si è ritirato nella seconda parte di gara, mentre la gara del poleman Daniel Abt è stata rovinata da una penalità drive-through, ottenuta per l’utilizzo di troppa energia. Altri driver ad aver avuto una brutta giornata per le strade di Long Beach sono l’americano Scott Speed, che si è schiantato in uscita della chicane, Jarno Trulli che si è ritirato dopo un contatto con Charles Pic e Sam Bird, che ha rovinato la macchina dopo un contatto al via. We’ve completed this busy period still in fourth place in the Constructors’ Championship, but this position doesn’t highlight the mid-season wake-up call we’ve received in recent races; we’re fully aware that the fight for fourth place will not be easy and will continue throughout the second half of the season. Cyril Abiteboul Renault Sport Racing Managing Director We rescued a good points finish at Silverstone – a track we knew didn’t play to our strengths - after a bad qualifying, with Nico producing a professional and composed drive to sixth. Carlos also made an excellent start to be in a position for points, but a racing incident stopped any chances of that. These things happen in Formula 1. With Spain, France and Great Britain complete, Germany is Nico’s turn for a home race and he heads to Hockenheim with his confidence high after Silverstone. The next two races should be more suited to the characteristics of our package, but as a team, we know a perfectly executed weekend is important to the outcome of a Grand Prix. We have more hard work on this journey if we are to stay ahead of our midfield rivals in fourth. Away from Formula 1, this weekend (13-15 July), Renault as a title sponsor of e.dams say goodbye to the Formula E Championship after four seasons.
