Revised Wightlink ferry times from 10 Jan 2011 Welcome to the winter edition of the Island Line Trains timetable 2010 was a busy year for us with restoration and refurbishment projects completed at two of our stations. Following a successful bid by the Isle of Wight Community Rail Partnership to A refurbished train at Brading. the Railway Heritage Trust, Photo: Dave Harrison, Lightwave Images work at Sandown has seen the complete refurbishment of the ground floor accommodation, providing two new office units and the provision for a station kiosk/shop. If you are interested in renting space at the station then please contact Travel Point Trading on 020 7921 2930. At Brading the official opening of the restored former down platform and Signal Box took place early in the year. The work there has been funded by a combination of Isle of Wight Economic Partnership’s Leader Grant and match funding from the Railway Heritage Trust. Prices correct at time of publication. 4 Connections By bus Stagecoach Sail 21 This service runs between The Hard and Havant via Portsmouth city centre, Copnor and Leigh Park. Buses run every 10 minutes during the day, Monday to Saturday. On weekday evenings and on Sunday and public holidays, there is only one bus an hour. Coastliner 700 This service operates between The Hard at Portsmouth Harbour and Brighton calling at Havant, Emsworth, Chichester, Bognor Regis, Littlehampton and Worthing. Approximately two buses an hour operate in each direction Monday to Saturday and one bus an hour on Sunday. Please contact Stagecoach for further details on 0845 121 0170. Please telephone Hovertravel on 01983 811000 for further details or visit hovertravel.com Isle of Wight Community Rail Partnership The Isle of Wight Community Rail Partnership was set up in 2005 with the aim to create a sustainable future for rail on the Island. Its original funding partners were Island Line Trains, Isle of Wight Council and Wightlink. The CRP has gone from strength to strength, even with the withdrawal of funding by the local authority in 2010. The CRP has successfully delivered numerous projects to the benefit of the railway, its users and the community. Partners now include (in addition to the two funding partners) Hovertravel, Isle of Wight Chamber of Commerce, Isle of Wight Steam Railway and Red Funnel, with the prospect of other transport providers joining in the near future. This is a local call rate service available 24 hours a day. Mainland train services The service between London Waterloo and Portsmouth Harbour is operated by South West Trains. Times for this route are provided strictly for guidance only and may be subject to alteration, particularly on Sundays. Please refer to South West Trains timetables for complete details or visit the website at southwesttrains.co.uk Public holidays Services are subject to alteration during public holidays and passengers are advised to check train times before travelling Connections Please note that connections cannot be guaranteed. Rail and ferry services may not be held in the event of late running. Assisted travel We are committed to making travel easier for customers with disabilities including wheelchair users and we will endeavour to provide assistance at all staffed stations. For travel on the mainland please telephone 0800 52 82 100 (Textphone 0800 6920 792) between 6am and 10pm daily, giving at least 24 hours notice. Cycles on Island Line trains A maximum of four cycles may be carried at no charge in the ‘Shanklin end’ of all trains. Island Line reserves the right to restrict the carriage of bicycles on any trains when the safety and comfort of passengers or the punctuality of the train may be jeopardised. Implementation of this restriction will be at the guard’s discretion. Please note that tandems and cycles with attachments cannot be carried. No smoking policy For the comfort and safety of all our passengers, we do not allow smoking on any of our trains. Also, in line with all other UK train companies, we enforce a complete no smoking policy at all our stations. All areas of the station are smoke-free irrespective of whether they are enclosed or otherwise. 6 Comments and suggestions We welcome your comments, suggestions and complaints about any aspect of our service.
