Japan America Society of Southern California’s Silent Auction Catalog Silent Auction Rules 1. The Silent Auction will close at 7:00 p.m. on May 16, 2018. Each closing bid will be certified by an Auction Official and constitutes the winning bid. 2. Pre-Bidding ends on Friday, May 11, 2018 at 5:00 p.m. Pre-Bidding is open also to those who cannot attend the Anniversary Dinner. If you would like to make a pre-bid, please email Kay Amano at [email protected] with your bid for the desired prize item. 3. Items and Packages are subject to change. Please refer to the silent auction display sign for any changes in details and restrictions. 4. Serious bidders should stand next to the auction bid sheet until an Auction Official picks up the bid sheet. Not all bid sheets are picked up at the EXACT closing time. 5. All prizes in the Silent Auction have bid sheets placed nearby. Persons bidding must write their first and last name and bidder number for the pre-written bid amount on the bid sheet. 6. Please note the minimum bid and bid increases for each item. Bids will be honored only if incremental bids are in accordance with the minimum increases. Bids below opening minimum bids will be not be honored. 7. Winners will be notified at their tables during the evening. Items purchased must be picked up by the end of the evening. Payments must be made by the end of the evening, and may be made by cash, check (made payable to JAS), Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover or JCB. 8. All items and services have been donated to Japan America Society of Southern California (JASSC) and are sold by JASSC and not the donor. Purchasers may not ask for refunds or exchanges from the donor. JASSC and Auction Coordinators are not responsible for lost or stolen merchandise or certificates. Lost or stolen merchandise or certificates will not be replaced. 9. JASSC assumes no responsibility should any of these establishments be unable to fulfill your certificate. 10. The Auction Coordinators have endeavored to catalog and describe the Auction items correctly, but all items are sold “as is” and the Auction Coordinators neither warrant nor represent and in no way are responsible for the correctness of description, or genuineness, authorship, provenance or condition to represent cash value and, once given to the purchaser will not be replaced (if lost or otherwise). No statement contained in the catalog or on the displays or made orally at the Auction or elsewhere shall be deemed to such a warranty of representation or assumption of liability. 11. All Silent Auction items and services must be used within the stipulated time limits and are subject to the terms and conditions stipulated by the donors. Please note that all accommodations and air fares are subject to availability. Exact dates and detailed conditions of stays or travel must be arranged in advance by the purchaser with the donor, keeping in mind that all black-out periods stated in the catalog, on the displays, and on the certificates will apply. All noted restrictions and expiration dates apply. Expiration dates cannot be extended. 12. JASSC shall not be liable to winners for any failure, delay, cancellation, interruption or changes to any provision of services, events or travel packages purchased which is occasioned by causes beyond our control including, but not restricted to fires, earthquakes, floods or other inclement weather, war, civil commotion or disturbances, strikes, lockouts, labor disputes, accidents, epidemic, interruptions in or delays of transportation services, electrical or power failures or outages, failures or delays in obtaining delivery from donors or manufacturers, suspension or non-renewal of the venue’s license for any reasons whatsoever, or any act ruling, regulation or law of any government bureau or agency or public authority. Delays so caused shall not release winners from their obligations to accept and pay for the items purchased. 13. All purchases are final. NO RETURNS OR REFUNDS. 14. Certificates purchased at this auction cannot be sold on any internet auction or at any other event. Certificates will be considered void if these items are sold on any internet site. 15. Any applicable taxes, fees, or other consumer-related charges for any item are the sole responsibility of the purchaser. 16. The stated value of silent auction goods and services are good faith estimates only. Any amount over the market value of any goods or services should be tax deductible. Please consult with your tax advisor regarding tax deductibility of silent auction purchases.
