My wife Tami and I became involved with the Cancer Support Community Cancer Support Community Valley/Ventura/Santa Barbara (CSC) after seeing how the organization helped my father, Mel, during his cancer fight. My dad was a strong, proud Valley/Ventura/Santa Barbara man who would not ask anyone for help, yet he turned to CSC, formerly The Wellness Community, for support when he found out he had bladder cancer. After his passing, I found a note while cleaning out my dad’s desk. The note thanked CSC co-founder Marty Nason and others for their love and concern for him. He went on to say, “The most important things are love of family, friends, positive attitude, doctors, medicine, and The Wellness Community.” He ended his note by saying, “Tell my fellow cancer patients never give up.” Welcome to Cancer Support Community’s Wings of Hope Gala! My father’s gratitude towards CSC strengthened our family’s ties on how important CSC is in helping others in our community. David Wank 7 8 Master of Ceremonies Carmen Carter, Singer The life of this native Californian and current Thousand Oaks Radio Host resident has certainly been eventful and exciting! Along with her creative Gary Bryan, headpieces, fashion, television and film appearances, Carmen Carter is It all started in the Navy Hospital in Philadelphia...and quickly went downhill publicly known for her dynamic and captivating vocal performances from there!
