Much of the initial list of summits was based on the work of http://www.mendikat.net/modules.php?name=pais&pais=es#mapa The summit database is unlikely to be complete. If you find a summit which you'd like to add to SOTA-EA8, or you find a mistake in this ARM please contact the Association Manager. Activators are asked to submit details of proposed additional summits to the Association Manager. Summits cannot be counted for points until a reference number has been allocated by the Association Manager. Page 4 of 12 Summits on the Air – ARM for Canary Islands (EA8) Document S20.1 Issue 1.1 1.2 General information Regions are based on macroregions of physico-geographical regionalization of Canary Islands in http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Canary_Islands To qualify for a summit it has to meet the following requirements: The summit must be listed in the Hiking Map 1:50 000 with a corresponding Name The summit must be elevated at least 150 m from it’s surroundings In the case of doubt the Management Team will decide whether the Summit will be added to the list The summit

CANARIES 2003 Drapeau des Canaries Drapeau espagnol Aux Iles Canaries du mardi 1 au vendredi 11 avril 2003 Onze jours de voyage pour découvrir 4 des 7 îles de cet archipel d'origine volcanique (Tenerife, El Herrio, La Palma et Grande Canarie). Un petit mot sur les Canaries : Cet archipel de 7 273 km² (plus petit que la Corse), situé à 115 kilomètres de la côte du sud marocain, a le statut de communauté autonome de l'Espagne. Presque 80 % des 1,6 millions d'habitants sont répartis également entre l'île de Tenerife et l'île de Grande Canarie. Région agricole (tomates, bananes, tabac), mais surtout touristique ; le tourisme représente en effet près de 70 % des ressources de l'archipel, avec chaque année plus de 9 millions de touristes (surtout Allemands et Anglais). A noter que la population canarienne est d'origine berbère, blanche donc. Grâce à l'anticyclone des Açores, il y fait beau pratiquement toute l'année… 1 Mardi. Réveil à 4H40, métro et bus pour l'aéroport de Marseille-Marignane. Je suis fatigué : gros rhume depuis 3 jours et mal à une dent depuis hier soir. Vol prévu à 7 heures pour Madrid, mais retardé (nouvel horaire) à 7H20 sans que j'en sois prévenu ; j'aurais pu dormir une demi-heure de plus... J'arrive à Madrid 90 minutes plus tard, puis 3H30 d'attente (lecture) et redécollage à midi pour l'île de Tenerife où j'atterris à 13H50, après l'avoir survolée en partie : vue du ciel, grosses agglomérations d´hôtels et nombreuses piscines de partout.
