The double platinum rockers, Vertical Horizon, led by founder, writer, lead singer and guitarist Matt Scannell, will entertain fans with songs from their latest studio album, Burning the Days. Released in 2009, the album features virtuoso drummer Neil Peart of RUSH, Richard Marx on piano and Scannell on vocals. Two of the singles, “Save Me from Myself,” and “The Lucky Ones,” hit the Adult Charts. Originally launched as a folk‐based acoustic duo, Vertical Horizon expanded to a band of four, carving out a place for themselves in the competitive music world. Their first album, Everything You Want, sold over two million copies, with the title song capturing Billboard’s #1 spot and landing in the Adult Top 40 charts. Following the success of Everything You Want, the band garnered radio attention with “You’re a God,” which reached #4 on Billboard’s Adult Chart and “Best I Ever Had,” which became a 2005 top 20 country hit for singer Gary Allan. (more) The immensely talented Kevin Cadogan will dazzle fans with his extraordinary guitar playing. Cadogan, an original member of Third Eye Blind, the San Francisco based alt rock group formed in the early 90s, co‐wrote 10 of the 14 songs on the self‐titled album, Third Eye Blind, and the group’s follow up album, Blue. He’ll perform a number of the group’s Billboard hit singles: "Semi‐ Charmed Life," "Graduate," "How's It Going to Be," "Losing a Whole Year," and "Jumper." Collectively, these two albums sold over 8 million records. Vertical Horizon and Kevin Cadogan of Third Eye Blind fame is the seventh concert in the 2011 ARTTEC Summer Concert Series at Montalvo’s charming and intimate Lilian Fontaine Garden Theater. ARTTEC is an innovative partnership between Montalvo and the Sobrato Arts Foundation for Education that provides hands‐on training and mentoring for high school students in the performing arts industry. Throughout the concert series, students will work directly with concert production professionals and high‐caliber artists in learning about the performing arts business and backstage production, while gaining real‐world work experience. Every ticket sold in the summer concert series supports both nonprofit arts institutions.
