    Environmental Scoping Study for the proposed extension of the 765 kV Hydra Substation and the proposed construction of an additional 765 kV Transmission power line between the Hydra and Gamma Substations, Northern Cape Province 6. GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF THE STUDY AREA ENVIRONMENT The existing Hydra Substation and Gamma Substations lie approximately 130 km apart, and are separated by a generally flat landscape, interrupted in the northern section by high broken ground and small ridges, and the Bulberg and Horseshoe Ridges in the south close to the Gamma Substation site. The broader study area falls within the Northern Cape Province and extends from the existing Hydra Substation near De Aar to the south near Victoria West, where the Gamma Substation is located. 6.1 Topography The study area is located within a generally flat area interrupted at intervals by a number of hills and ridges. The height above sea level, of the study area ranges from 1300 m to 1800 m. Prominent ridges within the study area the include Bulberg Ridge, located north of the Gamma Substation site and the Horseshoe Ridge located in the south close to the Gamma Substation site. Other ridges and hills in the study area include the Platberg, Nooinberg, Groot and the Tafelberg ridge. There are no ridges located within the proposed 80 m servitude. 6.2 Climatic Conditions Based on the information recorded in the Victoria West area, the average annual rainfall for the Victoria West region is 328 mm. The maximum total rainfall recorded in one day is 131 mm. Average annual rainfall for the De Aar region as recorded at the De Aar weather station is 331,4 mm with a total maximum rainfall recorded in one day of 112 mm.

This list includes the subfamily Epilachninae, which was left out of the earlier checklist. The Epilachninae portion has been compiled from the World Catalogue of Coccinellidae, Volume 1 (Jadwiszczak & Wegrzynowicz, 2003). Other changes, corrections, and additions since the publication of the original checklist also have been incorporated. Geographical scope: The geographical scope of this checklist covers the Indian subregion that includes India, Pakistan, Bhutan, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Myanmar. Arrangement: The arrangement of the subfamilies is alphabetical for convenience, and does not reflect phylogenetic relationships. The tribes and genera therein also are arranged in alphabetical order, largely according to the classification of Chazeau et al. (1989; 1990). For all the genera, the original citation, synonyms in chronological order, the type species and list of species in alphabetical order are given. For the species, the most recent combination followed by the author name, original citation and synonyms, if any, in chronological order, are given. The type depository is given within parentheses after the name, wherever available. Most of the extralimital synonymies and other extended, lengthy synonymies, varieties and aberrations mentioned by Korschefsky (1931; 1932) are omitted unless subsequently changed. Subsequent references of importance pertaining to revisions, redescriptions, lectotype designations, synonyms, etc.

Forest Plant Quarantine Station in Southeast Guizhou, Kaili 556001China; 3.Institute of Forest Ecology Environment and Protection, Chinese Academy of Forestry, Beijing 100091China Abstract[ Objective] The paper was to study the community structure and diversity of ladybugs in Baihualing of Gaoligong Mountain, and fill gaps in research about ladybugs in this region.[ Method ] Using sampling plot investigation method, the species composition and population structure of ladybugs in Baihualing of Gaoligong Mountain were surveyed.[ Result ] A total of 3 218 ladybugs specimens had been collectedbelonging to 5 subfamilies , 20 genera , 56 species. Two spe- cies were new records for Yunnan Province. The species and number of Coccinellinae were the greatest, followed by Epilachninae and Aspidimerinaewhile Coccid- ulinae and Scymninae were the least. The dominant species were Coccinella septempunctata L.Harmonia eucharis (Mulsant) and Afissula hydrangeae Pang et Mao.[ Conclusion] The study laid foundation for further study on ladybugs in Baihualing of Gaoligong Mountain.     Volume 45(24):295-311, 2005 A NEW SPECIES OF MESOCLEMMYS, FROM THE OPEN FORMATIONS OF NORTHEASTERN BRAZIL (CHELONII, CHELIDAE) ROGER BOUR1,2 HUSSAM ZAHER1,3 ABSTRACT A new species of South American side-necked turtle is described from the state of Piauí, Brazil. It is related to the Amazonian species of the genus Mesoclemmys s.l. (new acceptation) and is apparently a biogeographically relictual population of a species formerly living under a more humid climate in northeastern Brazil. KEYWORDS: Chelonii, Chelidae, systematics, taxonomy, phylogeny, Mesoclemmys perplexa, new species, Piauí, Brazil. It occurs in the Amazonas, Tocantins, Paraguay, Parana, and Uruguay River basins, where it inhabits shallow streams, ponds, and marshes. Its taxonomic status has long been uncertain and confusion with similar looking species of toad-headed turtles still occurs frequently, leading to erroneous distribution records.
