Snyder Honored with FBI Director's Award

KState Head Football Coach Bill Snyder was honored with the FBI Director’s Award by the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA)/FBI National Child I.D. Program Jan. 11 at the Association’s annual banquet.
Through the leadership of Snyder, more than 250,000 Child I.D. kits were distributed to kindergarten and first grade students throughout the state of Kansas. Snyder raised the funds to make the distribution of the I.D. kits possible as well as arranging press conferences and helping the FBI get connected to schools for the distribution. The FBI formed a partnership with the AFCA in January 2002 and has distributed more than 1.4 million national Child Identification Program kits throughout the nation. Previous FBI Director's Awards recipients have included Rich Rodriguez, Jim Tressel, Mack Brown and Grant Teaff.
The legendary Wildcat head coach, currently the 12thwinningest active coach at the FBS level, has remained involved with the community throughout his career as he currently is the chairman of the Kansas Mentors Council and the Kansas Leadership Council, a member of the Board of Directors for the Kansas Leadership Center, the Board of Trustees for the Kansas Sports Hall of Fame, the KSU Leadership Studies Advancement Council, the Terry C. Johnson Cancer Research Center Advisory Council, the Manhattan Community Foundation Board of Trustees, the KSU Foundation Board of Trustees and is the honorary cochairman of the Kansas Masonic Partnership for Life.
In 2009, Snyder returned to lead the Wildcat football program once again and in two seasons has put KState back in the postseason (2010 bowl appearance) and in the position to win Big 12 North titles (2009 North runnerup). KState just wrapped up a 76 campaign in 2010 that included a berth in the New Era Pinstripe Bowl, its first postseason appearance since 2006. The Wildcats have excelled both on the field and in the classroom under Snyder as the KState program has led the Big 12 in both all sport and football graduation rates in each of the last four seasons.
